Yes
Only if the boots are rubber. What?
Yes, you could place the gun facing upwards and move things with both hands. No need to hold the gun, but you might burn your hands if not careful.
It does heat PVC pipe with the aid of sand or springs for larger pipes (check online for tutorials) It also heats especially well PVC board (sintra, Celtic... ect) even on the lowest setting. Just make sure to constantly move the heat source so it won't burn and use in a well ventilated space for safety reasons.
I removed an 8" dent at the corner of my rear bumper with this gun .
Sorry but It will not work for what you say, since the 1200 temperature is in the internal resistance and then blows air and would not melt the rod!
I would not use my heat gun for something like that. Bottom line is I do not think that it would work and it sure was not made for that purpose. A fine tool for the right job. You will be better served using a match and piece of paper.
It has high (1500w) & low (750w.).
It can get very hot so I would not use it near any other internal components.
Yes. Bear in mind that the thicker (bigger) the part, the more heat and finesse will be needed. Practice on some pieces before your final part. Remember, PPE (personnel protection equipment) first. I suggest always wearing safety glasses and good gloves ( I like welding gloves) when working with hot plastics. It it's a large part and you expose your arm's, wear a welding jacket.
