Rated 1 out of 5 by from I like this product and recommend it for those who live where it stays warm enough, but it has a ... I like this product and recommend it for those who live where it stays warm enough, but it has a fatal flaw, when its cold it drains its battery quickly and when it really cold it drains it almost instantly. Its probably a combination the useful capacity of an alkaline battery being down 50% at 32°F and 90% at 0°F, and something about the circuit not being temperature compensated and drawing power when cold, or perhaps damp. In either case, where I live the battery life in late January is less than a week. I should also say that a battery will last a more than a month and less than a quarter when the weather is reliably frost free from June 1st to September 1st. I have two of these mounted on the outdoor wall adjacent their respective garage door. I live where it will drop below 20°F frequently for several winter months below 10°F less frequently, below 0­°F a few times a year, below -10°F not every year ... below -30°F rarely. I wish there was a similar product that can be powered by an AC adapter, but AFAIK Genie doesn't make one. I keep intending to cobble a socket or terminals into these to make it possible. These are expected to be dead when needed and as a consequence are rarely used even when the batteries haven't expired.

I bought this keypad to replace the original one which had aged and was beyond use. This keypad fit the original mounting holes and is very easy to program. The original keypad was in use for seven years and provided excellent service. On line customer chats will answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend this keypad.
