SilentMax 1000 3/4 HP DC Motor Belt Drive Garage Door Opener, Revolution Series is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1739.

I usually shy away from Genie products, because in the past they typically took much longer to install. A year ago, a customer asked me to install this model Genie opener. I was reluctant, but did it anyways. I can see they took some ideas from Chamberlin as far as assembly. It went together fairly quick and installation was smooth. I recently bought a pair on black Friday 2018 and installed one of them today for a customer. Smooth quiet operation. Yes they have a whine to them. All DC motor openers have that whine. People complaining about them being too slow are nuts. It's a few seconds. Are people really that impatient? Yes the Xcelerator models were really quick openers. Overall, I'm satisfied with quality. Start to finish it took me about one hour and 15 minutes including removing the old opener. It takes me about an hour with the other brand I typically install that I get from my supplier with a one piece rail.

Installer programmed the remotes in our two cars. Both have only worked inconsistently since installation. Genies customer service says the problem is with the remotes in the car. Both remotes worked everytime with previous door opener for 4 years. But Genie says they both broke at the same time and coincidentally with the installation of this new door opener! Genie will not grant a refund if I take the faulty door opener back. The installer hinted at this problem when he installed, guess we are stuck with getting rained and snowed on the 50% of the time the Genie doesn't work properly. STAY AWAY FROM GENIE!!!!

We then try to get it to work. Turns out the control board (circuit board) is non functional. We call service, they promise to send us a replacement board. The replacement board arrives a week later. The replacement board they send is for a different garage door opener than the one we have (despite having given them the model number and the type of garage door opener several times over the phone). We now get to wait another week for a new correct board. We will still need to take apart the garage door opener to install this board by disconnecting a lot of circuits and hope we get the new one installed without frying the new board. This is absolutely not what we thought we were purchasing when reading the reviews posted on Home Depot. We've been manually opening our garage for weeks in the middle of winter and we get to keep doing this for another week at least

I have seen all these glowing reviews of the Genie 750 and truly do not understand why purchasers rate the unit so high. The unit is fair based on the following observations: Rails are thin metal and can easily buckle Wire connectors (push in tabs) are easily damaged as I had one push in snap off and with any repeated use will break the push in tabs. I prefer the screw type terminals mush better. Genie got fancy with this and went backwards in quality. Thin metal trim angles are easily bent! While setting the down limit the turn buckle went pass the carriage assembly and nearly broke the idler pulley. In the process the rails bent and almost snapped!!! The last issue may be user error but I had a heck of a time setting up and down travel limits. + and - buttons should be arrows instead. Overall you get what you pay for and this unit replaced a 22 year Challenger chain drive unit that while noisy was very well made and exceeded my expectations for it. researching GDO brands I found none to be as good as the unit I replaced. It seems no matter which brand and or model you pick none are really well made anymore. My two cents, your mileage may vary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet, Very Smooth I recently purchased this to replace a 17 year old garage door opener. This unit is seriously easy to assemble and install. It is extremely quiet....and I do mean quiet! What I really like about it is that the motor starts off slowly and then gently ramps up to speed. As a result of this SOFT START my door isn't hit with a huge shock which I believe also aids in it being so quiet. The belt drive requires no lubrication and also aids in the unit being quiet and smooth. The unit comes with 2 remotes and an outside combination pad which are easy to set up and program. It also comes with a hard wire switch which allows you to work the built in dual lights or door independently. If I had one complaint the instruction sheet is laid out in a very strange order and reads right to left???? Finally I should mention that my garage door is a double wide and very heavy as it meets Florida's new wind regulations. My old unit was rated at 1/2hp and struggled, this one is rated as 3/4hp and easily lifts this double wide door.

We have only had it for a couple of weeks and loving it! Our old opener was chain drive and in comparison to this one, was so loud. This new one is way quieter. It seems to possibly be a little bit slower moving but it is a smooth open (not choppy or rough at all). Overall we are very happy. My only complaint is that Genie isn't compatible with my other existing 10 year old Craftsman opener and so I have to have 2 different remotes and 2 different key pads on the outside of the garage. As far as install, hubby said it was pretty easy and the parts I helped him with took maybe 5 minutes total. We did have to purchase the extension kit because our garage door is 8 foot. *As a side note my in-laws have Genie Brand openers and one of their original 3 openers is still working 40 years later. I am hoping I can get that kind of life out of this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet! Easy Installation! I have installed garage door openers before, so this install was a breeze by myself. I couldn't comment on a first timer's ability to install, but if you own a screwdriver and/or a wrench, you should be able to install pretty easily with the directions given. You may need another person to hold it in place while you secure opener to the ceiling. I was able to get around that by using a step ladder to hold it. The opener itself is very, very quiet. It is installed directly under the kitchen. If the faucet is running, I can't hear the opener operating. What sound I do hear is from the actual door, not the opener. The only problem I have is that the remote button is sometimes accidentally triggered on my key chain, and because I can't hear it, my door is open and I don't know it. I don't know if this opener is faster than others, but it doesn't seem slow. How fast do you need a 7ft door to open? I would buy it again, but maybe spend few dollars more for the door closed confirmation accessory.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have two Genie belt drive opener and I bought... I have two Genie belt drive opener and I bought this one for my third stall. My doors are all identical standard 9 x 7 residential. The track on this opener is substantially shorter than the other 2 Genie openers purchased in late 2011. The other two open my 7' high doors fully and give me clear opening. This opener will not fully open the door and I lose several inches of clearance. I have to disengage the red rope and manually open the door the last few inches to get full clearance for high vehicles. Fortunately, this is not a regular occurrence. This seems like a horrible way to save a few cents on product cost. The old Stanley (from 1986) had a track that was longer than any of the three Genie openers and it never occurred to me that an opener advertised as 7' would not provide a 7' lift.I was tempted to give it a lower rating but since I do not need the full 7' regularly and it works fine otherwise; I will give it an average. I find it difficult to review brand new products because there has been no time to determine how trouble free it will be. I am fully satisfied with the unit so far except for the short track and reduced lift range.
