Universal 4 Button Garage Door Opener Remote - Universal Replacement For Nearly All Garage Door Opener Remotes

Bought to replace my lost garage door opener. Marketed as a universal remote that works with craftsman brand openers. It does not. After several attempt at trouble shooting and several different videos still no success. Even their website blows and doesn’t sufficiently explain craftsman pairing. Don’t buy unless you love returning products to homedepot. They should also take craftsman off or the packaging if they aren’t going to support it.

This remote is marketed as a universal garage door and gate opener, including the Linear brand on the packaging. Cloning instructions did not work for a Linear Multi-Code 4120 series transmitter. Linear Multi-Code operates at 300 Mhz and is not supported (per communication with Genie). Linear Mega-Code is different than Multi-Code and operates at 318 Mhz which may be supported. Additional information I received from Genie indicates the supported bandwidth is 303-390 Mhz, barely missing the need for 300 Mhz transmitters such as Linear Multi-Code. Be advised that support for a brand cold be limited to a narrow selection of models.

It only works with a select few brands but NOT liftmaster( the most common garage door brand). Most of all the brands are chamberlain. Big ripoff

It comes with instructions with 3 methods for set-up. We have a Chamberlain garage door opener, but I have been unsuccessful with getting it to work with my opener.

I was able to program to my garage door opener in less than a minute using the very detailed instructions that were provided. Looks to work for many makes and models. I was definitely impressed. It has a few other features I liked as well. It's compact and you can carry on your keys so that it's not just left in your vehicle for home security, but if you did decide to keep it in the vehicle it does have a clip to hold it to your visit if you like. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a universal remote for their garage or gate!

Tiny remote, controls 4 devices, and works great...if you can get it programmed for your situation! The Genie Universal 4-Button remote (model #GU4TG-R) is so small and light you can put it in a pocket and forget it’s there. Or clip it to a key chain with the supplied loop. And if you have a 3-car garage and a gate, or a second home, or need access to a relative’s garage, it’s great to have four buttons to program. And it works great...IF you can get it programmed. It’s “universal” and lists several brands and models of Garage Door Openers (GDOs) that it works with, but I had no luck programming it for my 1999 Craftsman GDO (with a red “Learn” button), trying all three methods multiple times. However it programmed quickly and easily with my in-laws’ Genie GDO (circa 2004), so it’s not that I can’t follow instructions ;) Be sure to read the instructions carefully -- they’re pretty good, but not perfect. Two key items are missing: 1) They don’t mention that you should be 5’ away from the GDO when performing the programming sequence (and considering that you have to get on a ladder to push the “Learn” button on the GDO, it’s natural to proceed immediately to programming.) 2) They say to push the button “slowly and deliberately,” which could mean different things to different people. It would be far more helpful if they specified the number of seconds to hold the button and number of seconds to pause in-between. Three Ways to Program -- Depending on your situation, you may need to use multiple methods 1) “Pre-set” is the easiest, and is available for several popular GDOs. This method worked for my in-laws’ Genie GDO. But there is a particular button pre-assigned for each brand (Genie is button 1.) So you if you have a 2-car garage with separate (but identical) GDOs, you can only use the “Pre-set” approach with ONE of them. You’ll need to use the “Learn” method for the other. 2) “Learn” is a more common method, works with any of the four buttons, and only involves a couple extra steps. This approach also worked with my in-laws’ Genie. 3) “Cloning” is supposed to copy the codes from an existing remote. I could not get this method to work at all, not even with the Genie GDO. Shout out to Genie Customer Service. They spent a LOT of time on chat and by phone helping to trouble-shoot my situation/application, and were legitimately interested in feedback. It turns out this is a brand new product that hasn’t been released for broad distribution yet (March 2019), so hopefully by the time you read this they will have worked out the kinks. They’re certainly trying hard! So, recommended, but with the caveat that you might need to return it if it doesn’t work with your GDOs.

This garage door opener remote come with documentation on how to set it up. Unfortunately there are a lot of different ways listed to get it set up and I had a hard time finding one that would work. When I finally got it working with my garage door opener my other two garage door opener remotes stopped working. I had to remember what I did and go back and reprogram the old garage door remotes. I don’t know whether this could be made simpler. Once you have it programmed it is a handy little remote and it is nice to have an extra one. I have my current two remotes in our two vehicles, so it is nice to have an extra one if I’m working out in the yard and need to open and close the garage.

A compact (2 1/4” x 1 1/2”) universal garage door opener that was very easy to program. The instructions have 3 different methods, so between those and my previous experience with programming remotes, i had it whipped in under 10 minutes. I did drop it onto a vinyl floor with no consequence so it durability to it. I chose to use the visor clip, which fits snuggly and installed easily. I also easily installed the keyring holder for safe keeping. It has a good range. My driveway is a hundred feet and it signals my garage door opener about 1/3 of the way up. The remote and accessories came inside plastic protected by some foamy plastic inside a small box. Everything was easy to access and tear open.

This universal garage door remote made by Genie is very compact (about double the size of the quarter it is pictured with). It comes with some handy accessories so you can clip it to your car visor or use it as a key fob (see pictures). You can program it for use with up to four different garage doors (see the four buttons on the unit)! Another good feature is that it runs on the very common CR2032 button battery which you can find easily if you need a replacement battery sometime in the future. Changing the battery involves removing one Phillips head screw from the back. Programming it is very straightforward. Genie has included very thorough instructions for over a dozen different garage door openers. However, you will want to check to be sure your opener was manufactured after 1992 because the instructions state this remote unit will not work with garage door openers manufactured prior to 1993. I highly recommend this universal remote! So easy to use!

The Genie Universal Series for garage door and gate opener is a nice and compact unit. The Universal 4-button remote allows you to program and connect up to four separate openers. The cloning process is very easy by using either the original remote or from the learning feature on the garage door or gate unit. Included with the transmitter is the traditional visor clip or you can use the key chain set-up.
