how long before counter can be used in normal manner? AND in bathroom ,how long before shower can be used without harm to countertop on sink?

Asked by: thomas
After 24 hours of top coat application, you may lightly use your surface. After 3 days, you may set appliances on your surface such as a microwave, knife holder ect. After 14 days, you may clean your countertop and use as normal. In bathroom, after 1-2 days, you may use shower. Be sure to ventilate the room if possible.

While few would mistake the final product for granite it was a vast improvement over our drab, dark gray Formica. And the final price makes this an especially attractive alternative. Make sure and watch the instructional video carefully (we only found it online at the Giani website no DVD was included) as well as following the printed instructions though there are some minor discrepancies between the two. The practice construction paper piece was puny, it might be wise to buy several larger ones as practice is vital. That, and start in an area that is more out of the way. Believe me your technique will get better as you go on. Escpecially difficult areas are where the counter buts against the backsplash and sink. It's very difficult to mimic the look of your main countertop with those spots. With proper drying times, plus coats and preparation it takes a couple of days to complete tasks. But it is also recommended that you wait three days before putting anything on the surface. And a full two weeks before allowing larger/heavier items to reside. Point being you're going to be inconvenienced for more than just one weekend. Overall I would recommend this product to brighten up dull or drab surfaces, just don't expect everyone to mistake it for a true hard surface.

This was a lot of work but well worth it for the money. I needed 2 kits and had some left over. The hardest part is the curve from the counter going up to the backsplash and the top of the backsplash. I used artist brushes in that area. I had lots of extra sponges from a previous project and those came in handy. I also bought extra roller brushes. I put 3 top coats on. I had a little trouble with the roller leaving skip marks but nothing too major. I recommend removing your sink & faucet if possible. I did not and it was very hard to work around that area. I highly recommend this if you're on a budget! I hope the pictures I uploaded turn out. I had to resize some.

Just got done painting the concrete counter top in our laundry room. Product was easy to use. Directions and video are very detailed. I experimented on a small table top just to see how it worked. Looked good, so I went to work on the counter top. I did it in two days. One day for the primer and the colors. The next day applied the two coats of the top coat. Maybe 3 hours total work. My counter top went from ordinary to extraordinary. I have plenty of the product left. Let's see, what can I paint next.........

When I received this product I was nervous about using it. Thinking if I messed up, I would have to start over. It was so easy to use. We've had several compliments on it. Everyone thought we bought all new counter tops. When we told them they got painted, a lot have asked where to get it. Very pleased with this product. I would deffenately use it again in our house. Best thing ever for someone not wanting to go to the expense of buying new counters. Much cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Bought this product as a temporary fix for my counter tops so i didnt have to put down a few thousand on real granite this year, and it turned out even better than I expected! Application was easy, and pretty fool proof as long as you read over the directions. I have about 50 square feet in my kitchen, and they say it only covers 30 some, so bought two, but one package covered it with paint to spare so i returned the extra one in store without a problem.

The product itself does initially seem to apply well and from all appearances looks great but here's the drawback, it can't take a lick of heat exposure and in short time the painted surface will become brittle and eventually start to come off the counter top. So if you have a built in dishwasher, counter top stove or any other high heat appliance such as a microwave or toaster oven on the surface it will be to the eventual demise of your new shiny surface as it will turn dull and come off. If all you are looking to do is make a quick inexpensive change to a counter top that you will actually never use then this is a great solution, but if you are like us and actually use your kitchen and plan to stay in your home don't bother with this as a long term fix up. We have had to re-apply this now for the third time as we have no choice at this point.
