Q:Is this wood post treated so it don't rot in the ground?

Answer This Question

A:  No, it is not pressure treated. Plan on replacing it in about 4 years, because that is about as long as ours lasted before rotting!

    A:  Yes

Q:will this work in concrete sidewalks?

      Answer This Question

A:  You would have to drill a hole to drive the stake thru the concrete if you wanted to put it "IN" the sidewalk. I don't know if you mean to install it between the slabs of concrete or not but I don't think the cracks would be wide enough to do so. I have clay soil and I hired a contractor to install it.

A:  My husband said you would need to by 2 cement brackets (one end goes into the 4x4 and the other end goes into the cement.

A:  ideally use a sledge hammer and grip up by the mallet tap gently drive straight down with the narrow sharp end with the wood block upright on level concrete that worked for me. pre drill the post before screwing the mailbox to the block.

A:  The metal goes into the ground, its probably best to use some post crete in the hole. The wood part has an opening that is slight smaller than the post and you sould have to have to use a rubber mallet to pound it. There is an instruction sheet on the home depot website with the product page

A:  Thank you for your interest in our products. Make sure one side of the post is parallel to the street. Position the post on the anchor which will have a predrill hole in the bottom. Using a sledgehammer, gently drive the post to ground level. Straightening the post as you hammer.

A:  Good question. We haven't figured out the process either. My son suggested using a sledge to impale the square end into the ground. It didn't work. I believe the pointed end should be driven into the wood. Just don't know. Good luck!

It took longer to remove the rusted old mailbox than to install the new one.

STEER CLEAR - This is NOT the post you're looking for!
If I could give this 0 or a negative number of stars I would. It was "recommended" by HD as the post I needed for the chonky Step 2 mailbox I also ordered. Besides the 3 months I waited on it (customer service was contacted and they cancelled and reordered it) I ended up having to scrap this colossal disaster and start over. We ended up with a totally different mailbox, as we knew looking at the original would just remind us of this nightmare! Will be returning as soon as I knock off all the concrete. Pic added for visual as well as the entertainment value. Do not buy this product!

                  Not a good start
Ordered, and was very late from estimated store delivery. Then got the wood, got home opened it to find the wood is practically split. Drove back to store to return. Will do one more order to give benefit of the doubt. Quality control has to step up their game.

                    Scrap Wood
The 4x4 included in the set had long checks and splits throughout the piece. The wood did not appear to be able to handle the pounding into the ground or the stake. Very poor quality.
