Q:My current post is 3.5in X 3.5in. Will this post still work for your landover Aluminum pst size, or will it be too loose? Do I have to get a new 4X4 inch strictly vertical post installed, or can I cut the current3.5inch post down below the angled wood?

    Looks great, pretty easy install
This kit slides right over your existing or new 4x4. Just need to drill a couple holes and screw on the mailbox support bracket.

      Weak cross brace
The post itself and the mounting parts were fine. However, the cross brace is made of two side-by-side thin pieces of metal with no cross-bracing between them. The brace has become bent over time, and the mailbox seems to be in a somewhat different position after each mail delivery. Poor design, I might say. Also, there is no way to attach the back of the mailbox itself to the post, which would make a stronger set-up.

The screws that came with it were not very sturdy. One of them broke. But the post is very nice!

        Love this look!
This is a quality mailbox post and I love the way it looks. Very easy to assemble and installation was typical for a mailbox post. We set ours in quickcrete and that post is there to stay. We purchased a coordinating mailbox and it matches perfectly!

Looks great, fairly easy to install
The body of the post had a couple of small dings, but it is a mailbox post, and the damage was not worth returning it. I followed the directions and had no issues assembling the post. Everything fit well and the arm that holds the box is plenty sturdy. After fully assembling the post, I placed the mailbox (Gibraltar Franklin Medium) on the mounting arm and measured from the center of the post to the end of the mailbox (23 inches) so that I could determine where to dig the hole so that the end of the box would be the recommended 6-8 or so inches from the curb. I marked the center of where I wanted my hole, used a shovel to remove the turf about 4" deep and saved it to replace after I installed the post. I used post-hole diggers and dug a hole 12 inches wide and 22-ish inches deep, with the bottom slightly wider (a drain spade type shovel is perfect for this). Put the dirt on a tarp or cardboard for easy clean up. Next, I put the post over a 4x4 so that I could measure/determine where to cut the 4x4 so that the mailbox bottom would be 42" to 45" from the road level. Since I have a curb, I had to subtract the 7" height of the curb and aimed for 43" so that I had a couple of inches of vertical leeway. For reference, it is 32 5/8 from the bottom of the post to the bottom screw to the arm that holds the mailbox. I then put 4 or 5 inches of pea gravel (had a spare bag handy) in the bottom of the hole for drainage and double checked my measurements to ensure the bottom of the mailbox would be at the height I wanted from the ground (keeping in mind the 7 inch curb height). I set the mailbox in the hole and made sure the post was level (with a post level) and plumb to the street and supported it with some spare wood pieces and clamps. I then followed the directions on the quick setting concrete mix and added water to the hole, then dumped in most of a 50 lb bag and tamped it down tight. I added more water on top and finished off that 50 lb bag and added about half of another and then added more water to the top of that and let it soak in. I filled it to about 7 inches from the top of the hole. I then tamped it down and sloped it away from the post and I let it harden up for about 1.5 hrs, checking occasionally to ensure it was still level and plumb. I then added some top soil back and used the turf that I had saved to fill around the post and watered it. Secure the post to the 4x4 with the provided screws and it is rock solid. Putting the mailbox onto the post is quick and easy and it looks great.

Easy to follow instructions made assembly simple. (FYI - it's not made perfectly clear on the listing description that a 4x4 post is required for installation.) Although this post can accommodate a larger box but in my opinion, it looks best with a regular sized mailbox. I'm very happy with the final result!
