Questions & Answers

how much does it weigh and will it fit in the back seat of a car?

Asked by: catlady
I would say it weighs around 80 pounds. Depends on how big the back seat is, the box is huge. Mine looks good in my truck bed. Now I just need to build a box around it and then wont need to stop at rest areas! (just kidding) Installation is pretty easy, I am 65 and had no issues installing by myself. Box dimensions are 32" x 18" x 29".

Does water splash up onto the toilet seat when the toilet is flushed?
Asked by: Alice
Very valid question actually! The people who don't know what you are talking about are lucky. I know exactly what you are talking about, used to live in a "luxury" apartment and hated that the toilet splashed water droplets up and out when flushed, so annoying! I don't know what causes that.... Not a lot of water, but it should all go down ya know??? Anyway, this toilet is great, no issues here. :)

I had a similar problem. In my case, I had the water level too high. I lowered the water level to the correct mark, and the problem went away.

It took me a while of trying to "get off the pot" that was actually to short for me. I was pulling myself up by using the lip of the tub on one side or by pulling myself up by using the edge of the sink on the other side. Then I noticed the sink was moving away from the wall by my using it as leverage to "get off the pot" too many times. I bought a taller, one piece, 2 push buttons flushers (no handle) and what a difference. I no longer need support in rising. It's easy come . . . easy "go". I highly recommend this toilet for the handicapped and seniors. It's so easy, and faster. It had all the parts, (including the toilet seat) I needed in the box, thus making it quick & easy to install (less than 15 minutes). Signed: A nurse and a senior counselor. I'm also handicapped, 80 years old, and still functioning mentally and physically. P.S. I don't own stock in this company. My review is true. :) Bobbie A.

I wanted a one piece toilet bowl because they are so much easier to clean and I also wanted a toilet bowl that did not have a rim inside,(the way its molded) because it creates a shadow and to me it always looked dirty at the bottom of the bowl where the water is. The glacier one piece elongate gave me what I wanted. At first I did not want an elongated seat, because my toilet sits by the door (beyond my control) and I thought that it would stick out too much, however the whole length is 19 inches, so it worked out fine. I also did not want a taller bowl, but its only one inch taller than the standard size, so that also worked out well. I guess I'll appreciate that extra inch when I'm old. hehe. My husband installed it in a jiffy, once we removed the old one. Don't forget to buy a new wax ring, or better yet buy a rubber one, tighter fit. Well I am very happy the way it all turned out and i do recommend it to neighbors and to my daughter, she's looking to remodel her bathroom. P.S. I had my husband add a hand held douche, which I love. You can buy the kit for $39.

How ofter have you had to change out the float or flapper valve? They are typically made of brass and rubber and last many years. These Chinese made toilets have plastic and silicon parts throughout and you are asking for trouble. Don't use any clorinated bowl cleaner, it destroys the silicon flapper, at least that was the excuse I got when the silicon flapper valve failed. How about replacing the float valve? They last forever, but not this one - it lasted only 4 years and is a pain to change. I was told that it was because I have hard water. That's a joke. What would they say if I had soft water. The flush mechanism on top is not metal. It is plastic with a thin metal covering which has deteriorated.

Just installed one of these in my mother in laws home, It was a easy install and everything you need is in the box. I only gave it a good review on quality due to the throat of this commode has a rough finish on the inside of the commode and this is nothing you will see and if you did not know it was that way you would never notice, now with that said it should not be a issue but over time could build up waist and clog, but that would be a long, long time before that happened if it did. Now I didn't use the seat that came with this one instead we opted for a slow closure with a release hinge making it easier to clean and it really gave this one the update it needed to be a excellent choice and with the upgrade we still spent less than purchasing one that had all the options this commode offers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product, excellent value Purchased this toilet to replace an existing one as part of an overall bathroom refresh. I was drawn by other positive reviews and the ability to have water savings. I had to order this to be shipped to my local store, and it arrived very fast. Install, done by me, was a breeze. I didn't use the wax ring that came with, but think it would have worked fine. I suspect other reviewers have a low flange that is causing an issue. I would recommend having a friend help set it. It's not light, and just a lot easier with a person on each side. Almost every other review mentioned how cheap the seat that came with was. I took this to heart and bought a better one from the start, so i can't comment on that item. Performance is great! Also extremely quiet and much easier to clean. I also like that there isn't the typical handle/ flapper- two parts that frequently fail first. When it does need parts, the part numbers are all listed inside the lid- very helpful! I like it so much, I am buying a second to replace another existing toilet!

My local Home Depot store has been very nice, but unable to help me get resolution to the problem. I believe there should be some compensation for the now necessary removal and reinstallation of an undefective toilet. The toilet apparently has some sort of leak somewhere, as I can hear in run on and on. I have now turned the water off, as my water bill increased from an average of $45 to $163 in the month that I had the toilet. I do not use that bathroom very often, and, so, turning the water off has, for the time being, at least stopped the water usage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Purchased for $188 and installed this toilet June 25, 2018.... Purchased for $188 and installed this toilet June 25, 2018. Like my previous toilet, it worked as expected upon installation. My old toilet worked well for several years and then just stop clearing the bowl (at all) so I replaced it with this one. This new toilet contained everything needed except the flexible water line between the wall and toilet so I used the old water line. How does it work? - Overall it works VERY well!!!!! It flushes #1 very fast and low noise. #2 just as fast and quiet as #1 but since little to no water swirls in the bowl, stool smudges are not cleaned completely but the solid stool is completely removed. However, pressing #1 again cleans most stool smudges. The one piece design is very nice as it removes a place for dirt/hair to hide as in the older legacy traditional tank and bowl design. I would give 5 start except for the occasional double flush so 4 starts it is. Hope this information is useful to someone in need of a new toilet.

We are very happy with the purchase. The main feature we wanted was the tall seat due to disability and just plain getting older. . The one piece, low profile form factor was even able to fit under an existing countertop with 30 3/8" clearance. This might add some difficulty to servicing later on. But it was better then having to hire a contractor to remove the counter. The recommended installation company wasn't able to help us because the saw something they didn't like and backed out . So we had to hire a local plumber that fixed us right up. In both cases the flange had to be replaced because it was broken. So it worked out for the best as I think the recommended contractor was really only set up to swap out the toilets without any additional difficulty.

Bought two of these because am currently in a remodel of both bathrooms. Box and description says the wax ring and bolts are included but there wasn't any with either unit/box. Meant a last moment rush for me to the plumbing supply store while keeping the plumber waiting at my home. The toilets are in and so far seem to be working fine, the plumber said it was an easy install but not happy with an incomplete product.

From the reviews here, it looked like once in a while there was a defective toilet. So I decided to take a chance and replace the defective toilet with the same model. Before installing the replacement, I put water in the tank to see if it leaked. There was no leak and the toilet worked fine after I installed it. If the first toilet hadn't leaked, I would have given this model top marks.

Both toilets came with defects right out the box, which took me countless hours of troubleshooting to find. The first had a hairline crack in the tank, which allowed water to leak into the bowl, leading to the toilet tank refilling for a few seconds every 15 minutes. The second toilet's bowl slowly drained between flushes. After searching for the problem (and of course, taking the toilet off after I had already installed it), I finally found that it had a hole in the bottom of the drain to somewhere in the bowl (see attached photo). Someone in the manufacturing process had clearly messed up and tried to fix it with some type of goop, which didn't work at all. This level of quality is absolutely unacceptable. It would be one thing if only one toilet had a defect, but both(!) had defects. I would recommend trying a different toilet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Toilet I purchased 2 of these toilets when I had my bathroom floors retiled. They replaced 2, 18 year old cheap builder grade toilets. Unfortunately I had to return one because one bathroom in my house had the toilet drain plumbed 10", and it would not fit. Requiring the purchase of a special 10" rough in toilet. The other fit perfectly, and is a beautiful, comfortable toilet. The dual flush mechanism comes all assembled, and all that is required after the toilet is set and plumbed in is to adjust the flushing buttons. And even those were already adjusted. The push button dual flush feature is very nice and works well. And the toilet is simply beautiful with it's one piece design. And having everything one piece means there is one less thing to leak. My only concern is when it comes time to replace the guts. You will have to get them direct from Glacier Bay because they are not a conventional flushing mechanism. But they are a large company with good customer support, so that should not be a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't say enough about this toilet This is a great toilet. I gave it a 4 for ease of installation because it is heavy, which made it was a little tough to maneuver into position and set it down right where it needed to go. It is the best toilet I'v owned. I had a problem with it running when I first got it working but that was completely my fault. I put the button assembly in the tank cover and put the cover on the tank without adjusting it. The instructions clearly state to put the cover on the tank then set the switch assembly in the hole and adjust the pushrods until the assembly sits on the cover and does not push on the valve assembly. Once I did this all was fine. I love it. Worth every penny. The water valve is ingenious. It has a little pool on the top of the float and as the tank is filling up, this pool is filled by the outgoing water, When the tank is full and the water shuts off the pool drains through a small hole and the float rises up a little bit to really shut the water off. The dual flush feature works great. Here in Las Vegas I like to save every drop I can.

I took a risk put in 3 at once to get rebates from my water company and thought there wouldn't be enough water to do properly flush anything, but to the contrary, they work great, miserly on water, flushes everything, one piece so they can't leak at the tank and are easy to keep clean. It flushes fine using less water than I used with the replaced toilet. As a toilet I would rate it at 4 or 5. The problem I have is that the one I installed leaked. After 2 weeks of replacing the flush valve that didn't solve the problem I was able to troubleshoot the leak to a fault in the toilet itself. All of the technical people were competent and quickly accessed and immediately recognised the problem when I described it the second time around. The first time everyone quickly jumped on the flush valve (maybe a problem here). Once determined it was in the toilet itself they immediately ordered a replacement.for me. For quality of workmanship I rate this a 1 star therefore my final rating of 3 stars

After I installed this one, I noticed that the base wasn't symmetrical... It probably wouldn't even be noticeable in most bathrooms, but my main bath has the "powder room" and you see the toilet from the front (my neighbor noticed as well). I figured for the price I would just learn to ignore it. Then the toilet ran (refilled). Just for a second but it shouldn't do that. Turns out it would do this every 15 minutes or so (see other reviews stating the same). I put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and watched it bleed into the bowl. I unscrewed the "flush valve", checked the piece of plastic that is the gasket, reseated and reinstalled it, no improvement. I adjusted the flush buttons so there was some play in them (to ensure they weren't putting any pressure on the valves), no improvement. I pulled the other toilet out to check the base and that one isn't symmetrical either. Since I read that Glacier Bay ships out replacement gaskets for the initial step, I went ahead and just swapped the valves (just the part that unscrews). That seems to have improved it, may be even fixed it. I heard it run so I added food coloring to the tank, it seems to be holding now. Looks and ease of install get high marks. I like(d) the price but would pay a more to not have to swap out parts on a new purchase to get it to work (the only other 1 piece in stock was $320, the middle ground toilets need to be ordered). At the very least I'm in for a return and repurchase (with fingers crossed that I get a good one) but if these have these problems out of the box, what kind of longevity does it have? Might just order the American Standard for $225, it comes with a soft close seat ($40) so that gets the price closer. I'll call Home Depot/Glacier Bay tomorrow to see what they say and go from there.

Everything I needed aside from a new water supply line was included with the toilet. I have an older house (1953) with a SMALL bathroom (6x7.5 ft!). When it is said to be a 2-3 hour job, it's because of clean up time and what-you-will-find-that-you-gotta-fix time. I did run into a few things. First, the hole in the wall that I couldn't reach to patch before. Then the completely un-primed/painted drywall that was behind the previous toilet tank. Third, a nicely corroded hole in the house pipe. Finally, let's not forget the crooked flange! I have never installed a toilet before but I could not pay someone to do it for me. A retired plumber, Gary (genius and angel), who works at my local Home Depot was there for my 3 trips (ha ha, I needed the bathroom too!) and made this project less daunting with his very helpful insight and advice! Gary's fix for the corroded pipe AND the crooked flange was the PushTite 4" Gasketed Closet Flange by Sious Chief. Use dish soap to help it slide in...make sure it's lined up right because it's not going to budge once in. I installed the toilet all alone am thrilled to say no leaks, no odors, and it flushes liquid / waste without issue.

I determined the leak location by shutting off the inlet water and watching the water slowly drain into the bowl and noting where the water level stopped dropping. I returned the toilet to Home Depot and got a replacement. Before installing the second one, I checked the tank for leaks by first adding a little water to the tank, checked that the water level didn't drop, then filled the tank and checked again. The water level did not drop, so there were no tank leaks. I then took the water out of the tank and installed the toilet. If I hadn't run into the leak problem with the first one, I would have given the product the highest rating.
