Thank you. Model 20135-0427D-18.

In the picture it looks black! Is it black or silver?

It's silver. I think the photos look dark because it's brushed stainless steel instead of polished stainless steel and the light reflects differently. In person, it is silver with some shine.

Why do they make it 18” ? 16” is stud space and makes a better mounting measurement.

Bar is perfect size for assistance in and out of bathtub/shower. The brushed stainless steel helps stop it being super slippery. It's easy to clean. I already had one on the main shower wall from when my mom had been living with me. After my auto accident and spine surgery recently, this second one was recommended by my physical therapist for the front wall to help me balance. I was concerned about matching the first one which had been installed over 6 years ago. So glad Home Depot had this one to make both bars look like a pair!! This bar fit horizontally above the water controls and aligned with the wall studs easily for safety. I was concerned about the size of the bar and had only wanted a small one near the front at first. I'm glad I opted for the same size as the other one for more gripping space. Also, the added length is handy for hanging my washcloth or hand towel.

(What's this)
In choosing this grab bar, I was impressed with the low price and the apparent quality. But I did not connect the term "exposed screw" with the fact that the bar comes with mounting flanges that have several exposed holes for mounting on the wall. I am sure this is a quality product, but I don't really want it mounted in my shower. So what do I do? I will replace it with almost the identical 42 in. grab bar, also from Glacier Bay. It has escutcheons to cover the mounting flanges, but at an increase in price of about $14. First I needed to review this product, and for that I needed to mount it. What does it take? If you are mounting it on a plain wall, then you may be able to just use the four long stainless steel screws included with the grab bar and mount it to wall studs. But wall studs are usually at 16" centers, so that is at 16", 32", or 48". You could mount the bar on an angle, say in a bath area. I believe the mounting holes are arranged that way as well as at 12 and 6 o'clock, but the instructions don't explain that. If you want to mount it on a tiled wall, then you have to either find the studs under the tile and wall board (not very easy), or have someone do it for you. In my case I had a good deep scanning stud finder, and was able to find the places where there are no studs. But then I had to buy a set of wall anchors (WingIts, $18), and a specialty carbide drill bit (Apache 200 3/4", $17). The anchors (two in a package, which is just what you need) will hold 600 lbs (that's if the wall is in good condition). The drill bit matches the anchor requirements. I found the bit worked very well (but you have to put your back behind that drill to go through ceramic tile and a mortar job done by professionals). I was pleased that the drill doesn't need a pilot hole, as it doesn't want to wander on a slick tile surface. And if it does get off-course you can easily ease it back before it cuts full width. The anchors (see photo) come with a guide which also acts as the waterproof seal for the bar's flanges. Just drill the two holes to orient the anchors to match the screw placement, and follow directions to insert the anchors. Very long stainless steel bolts (4) come with the anchors. I was lucky to NOT hit a stud, but if I had, I could always have used the long screws included with the grab bar, at least on one end. Tomorrow I will go to Home Depot and buy the CONCEALED SCREW Grab Bar in Brushed Stainless Steel. Same thing, but more attractive.

(What's this)
I am very pleased with this Stainless Steel Grab Bar by Glacier. At 42" it was the right length to get the angle I wanted and be able to secure to a stud at each end. The placement over studs was important to me as I have put on substantial weight due to heart and kidney failure. I spent a total of about 20 minutes on the installation, used two of the provided screws at each end, and find that it is very solid and performs well. The multiple holes on the flanges allow secure mounting at various angles. The tubing has a ground grit finish that is comfortable and secure, and is easily cleaned and does not show handprints. The flanges are attached to the tubing with a continuous weld, no weak spot welds that could crack under stress. A well made product. As I require additional such support around my home I will use Glacier products again.

This is a great grab bar. Made of stainless steel so it should not rust or at least not for a long time. The six mounting screws are also made of stainless steel and are very strong screws of a good length. The bar itself is quite long..42" is a good length to cover the different heights and arm lengths of different people so that grabbing on is very easy and helpful. I recommend this product.

This is a good value if you don't mind the fact that the screw heads are exposed. Because of that I don't use this version in areas that are exposed to water. I'm sure there are ways to seal the screw holes or screw heads but I'm more comfortable using this type of grab bar outside of areas where it will be directly exposed to water. That said, this is a nice grab bar and very reasonably priced. I've used this bar outside of the shower to hold onto for when you step out of the shower/bath. I have also used them as a type of railing.

THE GRAB BARS HAVE A NICE FINISH. A SAFETY DEVICE FOR EVERY SHOWER STALL AND OR TUB AREA. MOST PEOPLE FEEL THAT GRAB BARS ARE FOR THE ELDERLY, HOWEVER THEY ARE VERY GOOD FOR ANYONE. THE ONLY NEGATIVE, IS THAT THERE IS NO CAP TO COVER THE SCREWS, IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR VOLUME USE ON COMMERCIAL INSTALLATIONS. THEY WORK OUT FINE FOR MY APARTMENTS.I INSTALLED THE BAR WITH ANCHORS AND SCREWS
