Would you have to drill another hole into the new sink to install an air gap?
Asked by Aaron March 2, 2021For new dishwashers that meet industry standards, you should no longer need an air gap as backflow protection is part of the dishwasher itself. The dishwasher should be plumbed into the garbage disposer with the drain hose being looped as high as you can. I usually secure it to the bottom side of the counter. If you find an air gap absolutely necessary for some other reason or old dishwasher being installed, your best bet is to put the air gap through a hole in the counter next to the sink.
