Questions & Answers

Does the sink have an overflow hole?

Asked by: AS
No, there is no overflow hole - general trend is to move away from overflows, as they can harbor germs/bad smells and can't be cleaned out...I was concerned about the lack of overflow hole too, but it hasn't been an issue.

How can you caulk one side of this top? When we push it against the wall the bottom of the sink hits the wall before the top does (it flairs out at the bottom) which would leave a pretty big caulk line.
Asked by: Jen
I didn’t caulk the sink to the wall... I place a back splash behind it along with a ceramic spacer and calked to the ceramic and then to the wall I also did not push the side to the wall. It’s not done yet otherwise I would submit image

Is this desined to sit on top of flooring or is it best installed before flooring? The flooring I am using is vinyl laminate “floating floor”.

Asked by: Rocktower
It is best to sit on top of flooring. We put ours on the allure vinyl tile flooring we put down. We then attached it to wall/baseboard on back for sturdiness.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A budget vanity for a tight space, but few other redeeming qualities This is a standard 30" wide cabinet, built to the newer tall cabinet size. The depth, however is only about 17," making it fit nicely in smaller bathrooms. The vanity top is almost two inches thick, creating a nice look. Other than that it's largely a cheap and unattractive cabinet. The entire cabinet is made of particle board. The top feels more like plastic than cultured marble, and there is no back splash or even a raised edge along the back. If you have a small bath, and you are looking for a cheap option for that bath then this may be something to consider. Otherwise, you may want to look for something else.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low quality I'm not sure what I expected, but this vanity is cheap. I read in the description that the faucet is sold separately, so I expected that, but this thing came with absolutely nothing that's required for installation. The vanity top is not attached and requires you to purchase adhesive to assemble the two pieces. It seemed like a good value for the price, but not after making a trip to the Home Depot for extra supplies. I replaced a pedestal sink in a very small bathroom so the extra storage space is really nice. The sink basin is really wide so there's not a ton of counter space, but it's enough for a toothbrush and bottle of soap. Definitely more counter space than I had with the pedestal sink. The "marble" top is very heavy but looks and feels plastic-y. The whole thing looks fairly nice when it's closed, but as soon as you open the door you can see that it's cheaply made. It will work for my purposes and is definitely an upgrade for me, but if I was renovating my bathroom and wanted it to be nice, I would not choose this vanity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for my small bathroom... We have 3 bathrooms, one of which is in the finished basement. That is where I have placed this vanity. It is the perfect size for the room. The vanity itself comes shipped with the top as a separate piece, which needs to be glued/caulked into place. The vanity is very light and I was able to move it by my self without the top on it. Also, keep in mind, there is no backing on it, as it will set against the wall and allow for the plumbing to come into it without having to cut away anything. The best feature of this vanity is the molded in sink, which makes for clean lines and easy cleanup. Regarding the quality of this vanity, don't expect a top quality piece, but for the budget friendly update, this contemporary styled vanity will do the trick. Check out the pictures......

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Assembly Required High End A great bright white vanity with a white marble top. Comes basically already assembled right out of the packaging. All you would need to do is glue on the top and install the faucets and drains which are not included. Has sturdy joints and legs. Has holes for four inch faucet. Marble doesn't seem to need sealing but I would anyway. A good standard vanity with top. Nothing too modern or fancy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little disappointed At this price point I wasn't expecting a lot. The cabinet is partical board and the sink is Fiberglas. As I was buying two of these for a complete bathroom remodel, I was trying to keep costs under control. Considering the materials used, they were well constructed. They look nice and perform well. However, I have a couple issues with them. The first is pretty subjective- the sides of the sink arch upward as they slope toward the drain. It just seems awkward to me when trying to clean it. The second is poor quality control - one of the units was made in Mexico and the other in the US. The pre-drilled holes for the door knobs is 1" higher on the foreign made unit than the other. Of course if you're installing only one vanity, who gives a rip? But I put two of these side by side. Due to the type of construction, it is virtually impossible to move the knobs on one to match the other without it sticking out like a sore thumb.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shaila 30-1/2 in. Vanity in Gray Oak Very nice cabinet that fits smaller bathrooms but has good storage space. The matching mirror also is great but it would be better if this series came with a matching over-the-john (OTJ) storage cabinet. I really needed it for my rental so I had someone make one in oak and match the stain as close as possible. My opinion is that all or most sink vanities should have a matching storage OTJ cabinets as well as mirrors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK. There's nothing wrong with this vanity and top. It's just not a high quality set up. But for less than $200, a 30" vanity with a top is a deal! I'm not wild about the white finish on the cabinet. My vanity is indeed white, but the finish has a little texture as opposed to a smooth, sprayed finish. The interior is a vinyl laminated light colored wood grain on top of MDF. The unit has no back to facilitate plumbing installation, so the drywall (or other wall covering) will need to be finished behind the vanity. The top has a cool, sleek design. But in today's world of natural stone, I'm not real big on cultured marble. Despite it's low cost and extensive use, cultured marble's durability is inferior to other vanity tops. The big reason I selected this top is the narrow depth. This 30" vanity is less than 17" from front to rear. This makes it one of the most narrow vanities available. So in a small bathroom, it can really free up some space and install where nothing else will. So, despite the lower quality cabinet and top, it does fill a need, and does so at a very reasonable cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Attractive and pretty easy to install. It does not... Attractive and pretty easy to install. It does not have a full back to cabinet which makes it easier to install but we had to put a back on it as our old walls are not very attractive behind the sink. We also had to use several shims to get the top to be up against the wall, close enough to put in a silicone bead so water doesn't run down behind unit when ever it's splashed or cleaned. Top just sits on bottom cabinet so that too had to be silconed down. Not sure how long it will last, but it was an attractive upgrade to the bathroom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Vanity Overall a good vanity for the price. I like the open back. It made installation easy. I do wish the sink bowl was a bit smaller to allow more room on the top for other things. It's about the quality you would expect. Melamine cabinet with a marble top that is pre drilled for a 4' span faucet. We replaced a pedestal sink with this and we have a lot more storage under the sink now. Overall a good budget priced cabinet.

We chose the Shaila 30.5" vanity to replace an outdated one in a recent renovation of a small bathroom (30 sq/ft). This vanity's shallow depth (16.5") makes it ideal for the tighter space. Don't let that discourage you though -- Somehow they've managed to incorporate plenty of storage space in a beautify and modern design. We love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite a looker for a small space Replacing a 30 year old vanity is always an exciting adventure. And with this Glacier Bay vanity combo, it was a breeze as well. The design of this vanity is for the most part excellent. From the subtle yet noticeable bottom front toe-kick to the single piece square sink bowl, this combo will be the star of any bathroom makeover. The sink is wide, with room on the sides for placing items, which makes it much better than a pedestal for small spaces. Yet it is also not very deep, at only 16.5 inches meaning that it sits closer to the wall. This surprisingly opens up a small bathroom giving it a more spacious feel, yet you don't feel you're missing anything as the sink is still so large. A wonderful design. The top sink piece is solid ceramic, and quite heavy. It comes separate from the main cabinet. While this is nice, and allows for an easy installation, there is far too much ambiguity of where the top is supposed to sit on the cabinet. If the vanity cabinet is installed flush against the wall, then the sink top overhangs the front ledge, and provides no place for mounting. If it is installed with the front flush, then approximately 1/2 inch spacers need to be placed against the back wall. The lack of a clearly defined location for the top, along with some sort of deterministic mounting mechanism, results in potential installation error issues. SUMMARY Looks absolutely gorgeous. The sink is just perfect for a small space being wide yet not too deep. Cabinet is spacious and looks wonderful. Ambiguous sink top placement can lead to confusion and errors during installation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good .... but Medium-dark gray oak cabinet front and doors. Sides are MDF made of color- and grain-matched laminate. Back panels and floor are light-oak-colored laminate. Cabinet is sturdy and 22" deep so it fits in a small bathroom well. The 4"-thick sink top sits on top of the cabinet and it attached only with silicone seal between the cabinet top and the sink. The one-piece, cast ceramic sink has some sort of white coating (mine was made in Mexico); it has a clean modern look, but herein also lay a problem. After my husband and I had removed and discarded the old sink, installed the new cabinet and sink top, and hooked up the new faucet and drain (it is now about 6:00 pm Sunday night) our first test of the sink showed a hair-line crack in the bottom of the sink just above the point where the P-trap connected to the sink, so the sink itself leaked. Oh woe! We thought we were done! The leaked water, even though it only sat on the floor of the cabinet for a little while, caused the finish on the cabinet floor to bubble. The local Home Depot didn't have another unit in stock and couldn't get one for another two weeks. However, Home Depot came through! In a panic, with one hour to go before closing, As I was looking through the available 30" sink tops for anything that had a 4": faucet spread so we could put something on top of the cabinet, I explained my problem to a passing salesman, pointing to the display model to identify the unit we had purchased. Oh yeah ( and just because) on my way to the store I had taken a cell-phone picture of the label on the under side of the defective sink. With unparalleled flexibility, the salesman matched the model number on my picture with the model number on the display and, after checking with some sort of manager, agreed to swap my cracked sink for the one in the display. After all, the display didn 't have to actually hold water! This didn't solve the bubbled cabinet bottom, but a piece of left-over vinyl will hide that. So, by 10:00 pm Sunday night,. we had a water-tight, quite decent looking new sink. That didn't leak. So, our Home Depot really does have good customer focus, but it you buy one of these things, check the quality of the sink top really carefully before you go to the trouble to hook it all up.

The quality is what you expect for a $200 vanity, althought I would not want to have it in a high traffic bathroom. I was very disappointed that the color of white on the sink does not match the white of the vanity. The sink is noticeable more yellow. It's more noticable then in the picture.
