Ordering was a breeze. It was available with no substantial wait time. Apparently the Free-Standing trash compactors are not easy to come by. This compactor was literally the only one I could get without waiting three months. Anyhow, it all worked out. HD delivered the new unit, I paid extra for them to take the old one away which they did. It's working great and it looks good.

WARNING! Home Depot stopped carrying bags (Internet #203382505Model # HD18WC030W) for this in 2019. The new bags (Internet #306713150Model # HDX18GDS30COMPStore SKU #1003609678) Home Depot now carries do NOT work in this. They will fit but fall in and tear during compacting. With the correct bag, this was an excellent machine. Overall, Features and Value are rated low ONLY because the manufactures recommended bags are no longer available. The HDX brand is made solely for Home Depot and if anyone knows of another brand that matches the specs of HD18WC030W, I would appreciate leaning about it.

I love this trash compactor!
We are a family of 5 and we create a lot of garbage! Previously we'd easily fill our outdoor trash can to where the lid would be unable to close and we'd have additional bags next to it on trash day. After 4 days of having our gladiator, it is still not totally full and I have put absolutely everything in it except 1 glass bbq sauce bottle, 2 glass beer bottles and 1 wine bottle. I am not quite ready to put glass in it yet even though the directions say I can.
We keep the gladiator in the garage and have a very small waste receptacle in the kitchen. As we put items in the kitchen trash, I take it out to the gladiator. Needless to say, I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase!

Superior Trash Management Indeed!
I had a Kenmore compactor at my old place, but it had to stay when I sold the house. My new place didn't have one, and I deliberately went a year to see if I could do without one - Nope! So I found this model at a garage sale, and had a carpenter modify my base cabinet to make space for it. Got it installed and it works beautifully! I dampened the noise a bit by taking the back cover off and packing the cavity with un faced fiberglass insulation (be sure to leave 3 inches or so of clearance around the motor and tracks). I took the front deckplate cover off and put fiberglass in the cavity there as well.

Service came. It is now SEPT 2023, still waiting for parts to fix it. Lots of things are not right with it.

Easy set up.
Love, love, love this trash compactor. My husband and I typically have three bags of garbage to take out every week. Since receiving the compactor, we only have one bag and it is only two thirds full.
Great addition to our appliance collection.

I still use a 13 gallon can. I transfer the bag to the compactor before it gets too full to handle. The compactor can take about four bags plus cardboard etc. Expensive appliance but worth it IMO. Should last forever. I keep wet food scraps out of the garbage otherwise it can get smelly as I've experienced with other compactors.
