Lag snapped
I used the provided drill bit and pre drilled my hole to the correct depth. I was using a box wrench and tightening the lag by HAND and it snapped about 1.5” from the lag head. Nothing is more upsetting than having the hardware break under normal use.

Excellent sistem

Easily 5 Stars
I purchased 3 4'x8' racks. I am not very handy, so I looked at having a company install them... way too expensive, so I did it myself. I was worried at first that it would be more than I could handle, but I followed the instructions (very easy) and was able to put the first one up in roughly 4 hours (I did make a couple of really stupid mistakes, but overall it worked well). The second one went up in two hours. It especially helped to use tape to "sketch" out where the brackets would connect to the ceiling and stay in line with one another.
I didn't need the third since two was more than enough space. My neighbor ended up using it and commented how much easier it was than the other one he bought.

DIY Done Right With Gladiator
This is the second house in 2 years that we have had these shelving units installed. This first house I paid someone to do it, and the second house I installed them with the help of a friend who is also a great handyman. We installed this 4' x 8' and three 2' x 8' shelves in about 4 hours and couldn't be happier with the results. Due to the way the rafters were running in the attic and things like the attic access steps and garage door supports I called the customer service line to get their advice on installing the storage rack supports in an alternate way. The Customer service rep was very helpful and knowledgeable about what I was asking and needed to do. This is a great product that immediately allowed me to clean up my garage. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Difficult installation but great garage addition
As many other reviews noted, the instructions could be better/clearer. For instance, a .5" socket will not work with the lag bolts. you actually need a 13mm socket (they are not the same). Little details matter. Also, two people is not enough to hang the loft. A minimum of three is needed it. If Gladiator could include a template for the ceiling joist, that would come in handy as it took me at least 2 hours to make sure the placing was perfect on the ceiling joist. Aside from the challenging installation, the product looks great and adds great storage above my garage door.

Great quality heavy duty material. My only complaint is that the instructions could be better concern the different kinds of configurations. Over I feel its a good product, and worth the price. I am currently waiting to buy again. They're currently out of stock.
