Asked by: Greg
We sprayed our primer coat onto new drywall and let it dry for 2-3 hours before applying the top coat and got great results.

is it waterproof
Asked by: screen
Hey there. It depends on what you mean by Waterproof. When paint is applied, there is a curing time. Typically waterborne paint can take up to 30 days to fully cure and cross link. Due to this time, you would not want to clean the walls until it has been past that time. With that being said different products will have different wash ability and scrub ability. Typically, the lower the sheen the less amount of scrubbing and washing that paint can handle. The higher the sheen the more washable and scrub able. Satins and Semi-Glosses would be better for scrubbing and washing. Which is why they a typically used in Kitchens and Bathrooms. Flats and Eggshell paints will only be able to handle a certain degree of cleaning. Hope this helps!

1 gal. Latex Drywall Interior Primer is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from awful!! I bought this primer to paint brand new drywall and new oak door and the paint that I used another name brand paint and it made the walls look textured and the paint for the door peeled off! The paint didn't like the primer. I was told from the store that it will be okay but NOW..I have to strip the door back to new and use a different primer! Never again with any of glidden i paint! I would give it no stars but it won't let me post this without giving it a star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this stuff Just finished the second coat of primer on my new drywall. I used the green mold resistant drywall in our basement and this stuff covered all the green in one coat. I did read the reviews before purchasing and all I can say is that everyone who gave this a bad review either used the wrong kind of paint brushes and/or didn't put the paint on thick enough. I used a roller. My son had a different roller brush on his roller and it wasn't sticking to the wall at first, then I switched the brushes out and it worked perfectly. It did, however, take more than 2 hours to dry. It actually took two days (damp from rain all week; was in the basement), which was actually a blessing in disguise since we were recovering from the work on the first coat. I did a second coat only because I wanted to, not because I needed to. Great product. Great price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No! Just No!!! I originally purchased the Kilz PVA primer for our garage & it was perfect. Rolls on thick & dries quickly. Halfway through my ceiling I ran out & had to purchase the Glidden PVA, I did a small section & it took 3 coats to get to the same coverage as the Kilz. I stopped right away & returned to our local store. My husband drove an hour to the closest Home Depot to get another gallon. Was it worth the drive...absolutely!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart choice. Can't beat the price for results! I read a few reviews online before buying primer for A TON of new drywall we needed to cover. I probably would've just bought the Behr primer because the brand has such a great reputation. However, reviews told me to steer clear & save my money because the less expensive Glidden worked best. They were right!! The Glidden was only about $34 for 5 GALLONS & the coverage was excellent. Let it dry completely before making any snap judgments... it looks kinda scary as its drying! LOL. But after only one coat, it looks great. I've never reviewed a product b4, but I figured I should pass along this great money-saving option. I highly recommend trying this one.

Latex PVA Drywall Interior Primer & Sealer to prime sanded joint compound before applying tub surround adhesive with a notched trowel per the plastic tub surround manufacturer's installation instructions. The product label says it's tintable, so I had the Home Depot paint associate add 1/2 oz of black universal colorant and shake the can to make it a soft gray to better gauge coverage of the primer and subsequent top coat. I wiped down the finished joints with a slightly damp rag to remove any residual sanding dust, and let it dry overnight before applying the primer. I let the primer coat dry several days before I got around to masking the edges where I needed to trowel on the tub surround adhesive. After applying the adhesive, I peeled off the masking tape before pressing the plastic panels onto the adhesive. Some of the primer came off with the masking tape and when I used a damp rag to clean up any excess adhesive that oozed out, the primer wiped right off. It is not water proof or even water resistant. I'm not sure what will happen when I attempt to top coat it with the first coat of gloss latex (water base) paint. I should have stuck with Zinzer Bull's Eye 1.2.3 water-base - Interior & Exterior Primer for all surfaces, which is water resistant. Sadder but wiser - lesson learned :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product is great. Does what it says. Not sure about the negative reviews and what the background ... Product is great. Does what it says. Not sure about the negative reviews and what the background issues were but this product was used on freshly hung drywall with joint compound. 3 layers of joint compound and each was allowed to dry for 24 hours. Compound was wet sanded. Primer coverage went on without issues. Covered in 1 coat but I put on 2 for good measure. I did not allow the primer to dry for 24 hours. It was put on at 9am and I had paint on my walls by 6pm. The room as an outside door and window both were left open to help with drying. No smell at all (maybe cause the window and door being open). First coat of paint was a light blue and I knew I would need a 2nd. 2nd coat was able to put on by 8pm. Also Glidden. I have used other products over the years, mostly the big B brand pushed by Home Depot. I have had nothing but problems with that other brand. Always needing 2 to 3 coats to cover other rooms in the house. A master painter recommended Glidden about 5 years ago and I will never use any other product. Even their lower end brands are better then the big B brand. I covered this current project with their Essentials brand and could not be happier. In the past I have found Gliddens lower end brands are better then the other high end brands. This company started in 1875 compared to the other company at 1948. This company knows its paint and there's something to be said about 73 more years of experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patience Goes on smooth as butter but you will get scared when it starts to dry. I was headed to get a rag and bucket of water after about 5 minutes. When this product is drying, it develops a texture about midway through the process. Give it 30 minutes and it smooths back out. I used it over a partially skim coated wall to even out before painting. The wall turned out perfect.
