Customer Reviews

1-gal. #HDGB15D Timberlake Teal Satin Latex Exterior Paint is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Has Performed Well So Far and Looks Great! Making the decision to buy this product to paint our 4000+ sq ft home's exterior located in the midwest was no easy decision, but after about four weeks of serious research, narrowing the field down to two well-known professional paints made by other manufacturers and with the aid of the CR Performance Evaluations I decided to give it a shot. I have now (5/2014) finished about a third of the house and have been very pleased with the initial results. It goes on easily, dries quickly and looks beautiful. It took well to multiple surfaces including masonite, board and batton siding, and hardie as well as the sealants and paintable caulk used in prep. The paint was also applied in a range of temps from as low as 49 degrees. Only time will tell, but at this point I don't think there is a better value than this product for repainting our home (and for that Glidden I thank you!). I will update this review should anything change, but I think it may be well moving toward its 5th star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint. Great color. Got this paint a few weeks ago for my garage overhead door. Rain showers every other day I couldn't get to it right away. Finally two days without rain. Temps in the upper 70's. Old door was lighter in color, faded, cracked and peeling paint. Scraped off peeling paint and primed with auto spray paint. Used my trusty 20+ year old paint brush to cut around the door frame and get all the grooves in the steel door. Then used a small low nap roller for the field. Paint went on real well and great coverage. I knew it needed a second coat. So let the first coat dry for about an hour. Then applied the second coat. It went on smoother and again great coverage. What I really like is the second coat went on lighter but dried darker. This allowed me to see where I may have missed areas to go over them. Love the look and color. Did not paint the frame for contrast. Used about 2/3 of a gallon of paint. Next project is to paint the garage entry door. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good viscosity, minimal drips I used this paint on a vertical wall garden project to create a more luxury garden vibe to my deck and this paint helped transform the pallet garden from shabby to chic! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor hiding, poor adhesion to PVC trim I used two colors from this line for my front entry: Heron Gray Satin to match Andersen's "Sandtone" storm door for trim, and California Claret Semi-Gloss (gorgeous red) for the front door (brand new, pre-primed fiberglass door w/ PVC trim around the lite). I noticed when painting the trim (wood, with PVC brick-mould) that the paint didn't really want to "grab" on the PVC. The second coat covered. The Heron Gray color did a decent hiding job, requiring only 2 coats. The door was another story. The paint again did not like the PVC lite trim, and even had initial adhesion issues with the pre-primed fiberglass (I did lightly sand it and clean it). The biggest problem was hiding. I had to put down 5 coats before I got a decent finish that wasn't showing white through--and then had to do a 6th coat on some of the detail work. Adding in dry time, this was a beast of a project. And 2 days later, the paint is still fairly soft. I have no idea how long it will take to fully cure where I can remove my protection from the weatherstripping and be confident that opening the door won't tear the paint. Next time, I'll try something else. To be fair, the weather was hot, so I applied it in a shaded garage at 90F ambient. That is right at the top-end of the stated application temp range. I'm not really impressed with how the paint flows out, adheres, and hides. Perhaps I should have sprayed, or perhaps I should have done a couple layers of flat sheen first to enhance the hiding.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to apply but cracks too easily The paint is thick and easy to apply. It does not splatter or drip. The main reason for this is that the paint contains a crushed mineral (rock) as a filler and thickening agent (nepheline syenite). I suspect that the nepheline syenite filler makes the paint prone to crack and peal after a couple (two or three) years. The most durable, long lasting, paints are 100% acrylic. I don't like to repaint every two or three years, so I have stopped using this paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the paint and it lasting color. It has been many years since we have used your exterior paint. The house still looks good. We check on the house every so often because we have sold it 8 years ago. We painted it 12 years ago. The current owner has not done any painting. The house is located on a busy intercity road. The grease from the exhaust puts a film on everything. When an owner I could wash the exterior walls and trim several times a year bringing back the beauty of the color making it look fresh again. This is what help sell the house. I am planning on using Gladden again on my current home if they have paint for old siding. Here's to future uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awsome paint Spray sealkrete on substrate first allow to dry for 30 to 60 minutes. Then apply the glidden exterior satin finish. I've been a painter for 30 years and I'll give my own personal and professional guarantee that this system will last for 5 to 12 years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No pigment of my imagination I repainted some of the interior of my house using several different colors of Glidden Premium paint. The Dove white covered great even over darker colors with a light coat and then a second coat. The charcoal gray went over a previously colored wall and made a great, one coat coverage, accent wall. The lighter shade of gray also provided even and excellent one coat coverage. Now it seems that beige, white, brown and grays all did the job but I bought three gallons of Burgandy and it was hands down the worst painting experience I've ever had. The paint went on the wall with brush or roller completely uneven. Streaky would be an understatement . It seems as if the pigment in the paint and the paint itself were fighting to separate. . I would have been more then happy to cut and roll three times if needed but after several attempts to get even coverage, the pain, in that pigment' was worse then anything I ever painted with before. No latex, enamel, acrylic, epoxy or lacquer ever presented as uneven a finish as this. I'm not certain any amount of coats would even out the color. So my advice is, if it's colors you want, avoid GLIDDEN.
