It works well but rather noisy
My son originally bought this Global Air YPL3-10C - 6,500-BTU (10,000 BTU ASHRAE) 3 in 1 Portable AC w/ Dehumidifier, Fan and Remote Control for his small NY city apartment, his bedroom was only about 10'x10' & he used it for about 3 years. He said that he had to empty the unit about 3 times a month. I mention this as when I used it for a 1000 sq ft room over my 3 car garage this past summer May to Sept. (39 days of over 90 deg. weather in CT) we only emptied it out one time at the beginning of Sept.! For most of the summer it ran 24/7 as my 89 year old uncle was living there. So I'm not sure why other reviewers are saying it has to be emptied every few hours, day or every week for that matter. Thinking that I'd have to empty it out a lot I put the unit on 2 milk crates (see pic) so I wouldn't have to get on my hands & knees to empty it. The one time we did empty it into a small jar there was maybe one cup of water after the whole summer! Other reviewers also mention that the exhaust tube gets hot, I didn't find that to be the case either. It did leave a dirt stain on the window screen though. My only complaint was the plastic panel piece that goes into the window opening, THAT needs to be reengineered! (see pics) I ended up using some foam weatherstripping to fill in the holes and along the top of the plastic panel so the bottom of window would have a good seal. We used this unit about 8' from a dinning area and I found it hard to hear conversations while it was on hi fan mode, so we sometimes turned it down during dinner. I should also mention that we used a small box fan to push the air around the room, this helps A LOT! I forgot to mention that the clip to hold the round duct onto the machine broke off when we went to put the unit away for the winter. (see pic)

Good for garage/utility/enclosed patio - not great in rooms of the house
Good size. Not that tall or wide. Light compared to other portable AC's. Big bright lcd display on top. Remote is useful but does not have lcd display. Pretty lackluster in features, no auto mode. I put the unit as close to the window as possible to reduce the amount of heat emitted from the vent hose. Then put duct tape all around the window vent enclosure. It doesn't evaporate water quickly enough so shuts off and needs to drain so I purchased a longer drainage hose to let it drain constantly. The air blows too strong, even on low mode. It's too loud. It needs to be close to the window vent. It needs to drain constantly. I would not recommend it for any normal room of the house unless you can accommodate for those defects. Otherwise it's great! Personally it's in our utility room right next to the washer and dryer. I'm quite happy with it there. The room is colder than the rest of the house now.

Compact, Easy to install. Works well (In Florida humidity). Drain port (male) did not fit the tubing sent with the unit. Used a different hose.
