This is a rather inexpensively made hanging lamp but it's value is commensurate with its cost. The ceiling plate is thin metal. The lamp socket is a coarse ceramic. The shade is heavy glass and should be quite durable. Here's the catch, the shade is held on by a thin metal nut that attaches to the light socket rather than having the traditional three screws into the lamp shade. This makes it almost impossible to purchase a shade from another company for decorative purposes. But just remember, this is not an expensive light.

Nice light that matches the ceiling mount fixture I purchased previously. The glass is thick and substantial. The base is VERY thin metal, and the supplied screws to mount it to the cross bracket on the ceiling were too short. Had to make a special trip to the local hardware store to buy longer screws. Other than that flaw, installation was a breeze. It would have been helpful to have instructions on how to adjust the length of the hanging wire, but once I figure out that there was a clear plastic setscrew that could be loosened with a small screwdriver, it was pretty easy. Overall, a good value for the money.

This is a very nice looking light. The instructions are terrible (to the point of non-existent). The Edison bulb is not included (and they can be expensive depending on where you purchase them). Love the look!
