Will this product remove dried on grout from ceramic tile?
Asked by: Steve
No,this product is more for adhesive, asphalt and other types of paints. Grout can be removed with a single edge razor blade and holder, to remove small amounts. Check at Home Depot, they have products to help with that

Will this product remove either mastic, or tile glue that is on a wall (from those old pink bathroom tiles) If so, what steps should I follow to do it the right way?
Asked by: Charlene
Charlene, sorry for the delayed response, we don't get notified on answers, only questions. Hopefully, I can still be of help. That sure looks like thinset to me. If it is still tacky, it is mastic, if hard, it is thinset mortar. Either way, it needs to be removed as you know and you have two options. The first is to scrape it all off, which is a LOT of work and never fun. The second option and my choice would be to just remove that section of drywall and replace it. If you are putting tile back up, then I would use Hardiebacker or a Cement Board instead of drywall. If there is no tile going in its place, finishing the new drywall is something you can easily handle. It is actually much easier than it appears, just takes a little patience. Either way, replacing the drywall is a lot less work than trying to scrape off the old stuff and then repair what is left. Hope this helps!

6 oz. Professional Strength Remover is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong Product This stuff seems to be much more powerful than the spray bottle style. It has a strong smell, so I wore a mask and gloves when I used it, but it works. I was able to remove dried latex paint that was on some baseboards (the wall color from a bad previous paint job) for years. It took from elbow grease, but the stuff worked. I also used it to remove some super glue from a faux marble sink and worked perfect. Cheers!

I’ll freely admit, goofs, painting, and me all go together like peas in a pod. I try to be careful, but a finish carpenter I am not. So goof off has been my saving grace many a time. But lest you think spills, goofs, and other mishaps are all due to me, my children have inherited this not-so favorable quality as well. I’ve always had a small bottle close by and it came in liquid form. This type branded as “Paint Remover for Hardwood” is in a gel form that I really like. It has worked wonders removing spilled nail polish, and no, not mine but my daughters... Paint and other “goofs” around my house. I wholeheartedly recommend this product! Please take a look at the attached video where my son and I demonstrate just how well it worked for us.

I tried the other formulation of this brand that was a spray but it did not work as well .I had thick layers of dried up glue from decades ago on the side of the hall tub where there used to be a plywood boxlike extension with tiles on three sides. It took several coats but the glue eventually came off. The side looks smooth and as though there was nothing there before. Had it not come off I would have had to put new tile on that side that would have cost much more than this $5 bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It saved my chaise lounge chair My daughter wasted white out all over the seat of my $700 chaise lounge chair. I went in the store and a nice guy in the paint dept recommended Goof off. It took about 10 minutes to remove all of the white out. I applied it several times & scrubbed with a brush in a circular motion.

I usually just put some on a rag to use it. In my experience, once you put some on a rag you have to start rubbing it right away. If you wait too long to start using it, it seems to lose its effectiveness. Maybe it evaporates, I don't know. Sometimes you have to apply it several times. This stuff really has strong fumes, so that's something to watch out for.
