Yes, Nest Protect comes with a Mounting Plate that lets you mount it on the wall or on the ceiling.
Someone can only control your Nest Protect smoke alarm by logging into Nest app with your Nest account credentials. Once someone logs into your Nest account, they can silence or remove Nest Protect from your account. If someone removed the batteries or turned off Nest Protect, you will be made aware of any problem on the Nest app as Nest Protect runs a Self Test every 200 seconds for Wi-Fi, power, smoke sensor, and carbon monoxide sensor. I have not had them go off in unison, unless I test them manually. However, I do have an issue with them going offline. My either second or third generation seems to work better than th first as they completely shut down and ended up throwing them away.
