AnswersSomeone can only control your Nest Protect smoke alarm by logging into Nest app with your Nest account credentials. Once someone logs into your Nest account, they can silence or remove Nest Protect from your account. If someone removed the batteries or turned off Nest Protect, you will be made aware of any problem on the Nest app as Nest Protect runs a Self Test every 200 seconds for Wi-Fi, power, smoke sensor, and carbon monoxide sensor. AnswersI have not had them go off in unison, unless I test them manually. However, I do have an issue with them going offline. My either second or third generation seems to work better than th first as they completely shut down and ended up throwing them away.

Fantastic product. Very sophisticated, but still very easy to set up, use and monitor. I’m impressed. I just ordered two more to compliment the house. A little pricey when compared to the other cheap junky smoke detectors on the market, but you get what you pay for - and this unit is worth every penny. Reminds me of Apple iPhones and iPads - a very sophisticated product and well thought-out in the design, but still user friendly. You do need a smart-phone (any brand smart-phone) to set up the detector(s) and then monitor everything on-line (if you want to). Wish I bought these a long time ago and not wasted money replacing my old smoke alarms last year. I truly sleep better at night knowing the Nest Protect is “monitoring “ my house and family.

It was time to replace all of our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and decided to go with an all in one product. They were easy to install and configure to my smartphone. I like that they each have a name so if issues occur, I know which area to head to first. At any time from my smartphone I can configure additional options as needed. The nightlight feature works great!

This is my 2nd Nest product, after the thermostat. I am satisfied with the product, if not thrilled with the price. Pay attention and the setup is reasonably precise and the alarms will self connect to your phone (or laptop, phone is better) and each other. Have everything laid out in advance, as the YouTube videos recommend and you will be fine on setup and install. I like that it differentiates between carbon monoxide and fire/smoke alarms with separate and distinct alarms. One detection will trigger both alarms and my phone. Very 21st century.
Excellent product. Integrates well with Nest Thermostat.
