Questions & Answers

Do they have these already assembled in store

Asked by: david
I bought mine un assembled. I have to say, assembly is NOT easy. The instructions are horrible! Trying to assemble something that is 3 dimensional with 1 dimensional drawings is not an easy task. I have assembled just about everything known to man. This was the worst! Even the the videos on YouTube were next to useless.

Is this larger cart too heavy to pull once it is loaded up with topsoil or firewood? I am a 62 year old with a bad back.

Asked by: keflane
This cart is heavy duty and rolls very easy. That said, if you're hauling over flat terrain, you should have no problem. Hills can be more of a challenge. If pulling down hill, do not get in front of this cart. It rolls very easy, attempts to stop it result in the wheels turning into a direction you never meant to go or the cart will just run over you altogether. Pulling with a lawn tractor or atv is a breeze. Backing this thing is a nightmare. Since the hitch pivots at the point of connection with the mower or atv and at the point where the front axle is connected to the cart, it's like putting a wet noodle through a key hole. As the bed is high enough to clear the wheels, there is no limit to how far the front wheels will pivot so that backing the cart results in being in jack-knife mode more often than not. I am looking at methods to lock the front wheels in place when towing with my mower. This cart is tough, well made, and can haul a lot. But one should be aware of these issues and be prepared to compensate for them especially if you have physical limitations.

Are the tires on this solid or air filled?

Asked by: Harry
Air filled. I had a problem with one of my tires going flat and complained to the company that I had to repair it myself. So, they did the right thing and sent me a whole set of tires and wheels.

Is it relatively stable on uneven slopes or is it prone to topple over to the side like wheelbarrows do?

Yes, very stable

1,200 lb. Heavy Duty Poly Dump Cart is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 1029.

My husband and I are working on a backyard gardening project that has been a dream of mine for years. My husband built 4 raised beds that are 4'x10' and 18" high, which requires 9 cubic yards of dirt to fill, so we bought this cart hoping it was help with carting the dirt to the beds. The greatest highlight of the cart is that it carries easily at least 3x the amount of dirt a regular wheelbarrow can take; however, even full of dirt, I could move it around the yard just as easily as my husband who is stronger than myself. Dumping the contents did take both of us to lift the bucket, but note that we were pushing the bucket over an 18" wall of wood so it was more of an up-and-out to get the bucket leveraged over the wall to dump its contents. Interestingly, the wheels also sort of stabilized the cart when we did this so it helped with the effort. Both my husband and I say that this cart is paying for itself during this project and I'm really glad we made the purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I updated my review. Cart is better than I expected! I originally wrote a bad review of this product, but after using it for two months, I have to upgrade it from a 1 to a 4. I built a concrete slab for a shed (see pics) and hauled (18) 80 lb bags of concrete, gravel, sand, blocks, mulch, and plants from my driveway to my back yard. At one point, I had over 500 lbs in it and it required one person pushing and one person pulling. I did the first haul of over 500 lbs by myself, but it was easier with two people, especially since it was a little muddy. I actually mixed all the ready-mix concrete in the tub and poured it with the dump feature. I originally berated this cart, but it held up with no problem. I also used it to help my neighbor haul some paving bricks. After that, he bought one himself and has loaded it down with gravel and blocks. Once you get over about 600 lbs though, you need help pulling it. If I had not bought mine, I would either have still been working on my project, or in bed with a bad back. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST Dumps I made an impulse purchase of one of these bad boys after hearing about them through a friend and let me tell you what an awesome buy. I have officially named my cart the Thumper Dumper. I could not be more happy with it. I would normally not take the time to review a product online but in this case people need to know this stuff. Pros: 1. in about 45 minutes of assembly I was dropping heavy loads of rock day 1 2. It moves fire wood and deer corn through the woods effortlessly 3. Had the idea to fill it with ice and beer!!!! that idea should be on the box somewhere. Its the tailgaters dream. 4. I plan to pull my dogs around in it like a hayride on Halloween. 5. It performs on pavement/grass/sand/rough terrain etc.. with ease. 6. It dumps smoothly ever time and can drop a heavy load wherever you want. Cons: 1. I should have bought one for my parents! 2. If it weren't for my friend I would not know about them. In summation if you are reading this STOP! go ahead and get one already. Tell the folks at Home Depot Large Marge sent you.

I used it heavily for yard work around the house a few times in the 15 months it lasted and it was simply awesome- no more wheelbarrows! The problem is that the bolt that the holds the front wheels to the cart was welded to the frame (I guess to ease assembly) but it rusted and broke yesterday as I was pulling a couple Hundred pounds of gravel up our backyard hill. This cart was built for 1200 lbs. it was a couple hundred bucks, I expected more than a broken weld, and then if a part WERE to fail, fair enough, but make it part that’s replaceable- not happy. I’m a guy who who spends about 1k or a month at your store, so I’m not unfamiliar with many quality products you sell but I will be more careful to inspect the small details next time- I just expected with a name like GORILLA! It would have been a tool that lasted-

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Early wheel failure Purchased based on reviews I had read. We used it at our stables to move 2 gal. buckets of feed. Roughly a maximum of 30 - 50 lbs, well below its rated max usage. After approximately 2 weeks of once a day use over dirt and graveled paths one of the internal wheel bearings was noted to have failed. Having grown up in a family run machine shop I can safely say the failure was not due to assembly mistakes, AND upon review of the remaining bearing and failed bearing parts it is evident that the design engineering is weak and that I will need to replace all four wheels at some point. VERY DISAPPOINTED! The best features of the cart are the plastic bucket, the concept of a heavy-duty cart that dumps, and the overall look. It actually looks like a good cart. Unfortunately the cost of the cart with the premature failure and subsequent repair costs make this a very poor choice. With a more in-depth search on the internet I was able to locate others who have had the same early wheel failures and or frame weld failures. Beware of glowing reviews from those who have not had this cart very long.

Yes and no. -It's great for hauling bulky items. -The dump itself is sturdy. -It's easy to maneuver and is stable when the load is well arranged. -The dump takes a lot of effort to completely empty of loose solids like soil or stall muck. Bring a shovel with you. -The tires deflate frequently. Yes, there are linear cracks in mine, too, but it's too late to do anything about it. -The metal parts could be a lot better quality. They rust quickly, even under the paint. These are best not left out in the weather during or between uses. After my first year I found this out and had to disassemble the entire thing and rehab it. For the inside of the dump, they should use stainless steel bolts and washers, but they don't. They will rust first.

I purchased this wagon after doing a fair bit of research and wanting a heavy duty cart to move landscaping rock. After buying the cart I did note the washers on the inside of wagon (connecting the plastic tub to the frame) were quite small. (I had read that on a review) I upgraded the washers to larger fender washers before starting my rock moving project..... other than that I changed NOTHING on the wagon. I moved 20 tons of 3/4 inch landscaping rock with this wagon..... I was absolutely amazed it survived the abuse.... I loaded it down with heavy loads and I was NOT easy on it... I used the dump feature, which with a heavy load of rock, you need a good deal of strength to lift and dump the rock since its all arm power, but the wagon held together..... I did already notice the tires seem to have little cracks all through the tread, so I am thinking they wont last long, but to be honest I already got my moneys worth out of this wagon with this one project. Using the wagon to move the heavy loads down a curvy pathway with several curbs to navigate was much much easier than doing it with my wheelbarrow...and I tried both.... Could the wagon be made better....YEP......was it worth $130 bucks to me? Yep.......

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Our community garden purchased a total of six of these carts, three of both sizes last season. B... Our community garden purchased a total of six of these carts, three of both sizes last season. By seasons end every tubed tire on every cart was flat and would not hold air. I and another gardener could not figure out what could have caused them all to fail to hold air. So we took a few apart, filled a sink with water and looked for the leaks. We found that every tube had small punctures on the valve stem. The hole in the wheel where the stem resides was the culprit, the metal around the inside of those holes had literally cut holes in each tire tube. But guess what? Gorilla Cart also makes a TUBELESS tire. But they do not offer them as an option when buying a cart. You can buy them after your worthless tubed tires fail. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they just do not put them on the carts to begin with! I cannot give these carts a good rating as long as they come with tires that are going to be flat and unrepairable with a few months.
