Questions & Answers

Will this product work if I need to attach a painting to a photo frame so it doesn't fall off

Asked by: Swimmy
As a custom picture framer, I would never advise using glue on a painting. If you are stretching a canvas around a frame, use staples around the frames edge. If you are using a wood on wood application, use wood glue, then you can use a simple wet rag to wipe away excess. This glue could cause damage if it gets on the painting.

I will be using gorilla glue to glue concrete blocks together. It states that the glue expands.. how will this affect

Need blocks flush to each other. Will gorilla glue work
Asked by: Lori
Yes it works very well. Excess glue will go sideways, that is, either inwards or ooze out of the joints. When dry just scrape off.

Can it be used in.cold temp

On auto
Asked by: DP
Original Gorilla Glue is best applied between 50-70F. Lower temperatures will increase cure time. Once completely cured, Gorilla Glue works well between -40F-212F. Thank you, The Gorilla Glue Company

I baffles me why people write negative reviews when they don't know how to use a product or if it is even the best one to use in their situation. It is an excellent adhesive and I use it a lot and have been for about 15 years. Be aware that it does foam up a bit so it is not as strong as a 2 part epoxy but is still stronger than most of the items you would glue. And there is a bit of cleanup with a chisel, knife, sandpaper, etc., whatever works in the situation. To correct some bad reviews below: It takes about 4 to 8 hours before you can remove clamps, depending on humidity. The foaming CANNOT separate your pieces if they are clamped. You should rarely have to use moisture to catalyze the cure. Moisture in the air is almost always sufficient. Overfoaming will result if you wet the pieces. The only time I've run a damp rag over the pieces was when the temp outside has been down near zero F for several days and the relative humidity in the shop is extremely low. I watched an episode of This O.H. where he soaked the wood before putting a wood project together. They never showed the result. Only what the joint looked like after cleanup. I imagine he was too embarrassed to show the mess he made! Anyway, its a great glue for the right application.

Used this to attach pieces of 5/8" MDF for some basic shelves...very messy (wear latex gloves!), takes too long to dry before you can release clamps and some parts did not attach after 1.5 hours. Having to 'dampen' the wood before applying tells me you won't get the full strength of the glue unless you do so. I stick to Titebond and Elmer's, you can't go wrong with either of those.

It was runny and difficult to control out of the bottle. The expansion caused the parts to separate. It was not as easy as construction adhesive or wood glue. Next time I will stick to what I know works and I can control. Maybe there is a better use for this, but I can't think of one.
