Can the ladder be converted into two pieces to be used as scaffolding ?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.

I thought all the people who were saying that this could be turned into two bases for a scaffolding were nuts until I visited the MFG's website. The two bottom sections can be removed and for about $20-25 you can purchase a pair of brackets that allow you to make a second A-frame from the two bottom sections. Super-handy! Search this site for "MPX Aluminum Rail Brackets".

If you are able to drop your seats then yes. I was able to fit this ladder in a PT cruiser with plenty of room to spare.

We need reach our ceiling fan at about 17ft. Will this slide up to reach it or does it need to open the whole way.

I've been using mine to reach 18' ceiling in my loft condo. I'm 6'4". Ideally, you should be using the 26' model if you're accessing the ceiling from the A frame configuration. I did not feel very stable or safe this way and prepped everything ahead of time so that I was able limit the times spent at this height to just a couple of minutes. If you use it as a straight extension ladder against a wall, this 17' model is fine. It's a beautifully-designed piece of equipment, in general.

Looks can be deceptive as this ladder, when folded, looks like you normal everyday 6 ft ladder like the one you might already have had at one point in your garage. But this is not your average aluminum or fiberglass ladder that you can just swing over your shoulder and carry it around like that. I'm sure the weight has a lot to do with the duty rating, the reinforced speed lock and hinges. Be prepared to exert yourself a bit when trying to carrying it from place to place. The description says the weight is 40 lbs and I can believe it.

Picked up the ladder so our stair area could be painted rather than the usual contraption I made up of planks and cinder blocks. Best thing I ever did......brought it home, unpacked, quick read of instructions and 15 minutes later up on it safely painting the stairwell areas. should have done this long ago....it's simple to operate, very sturdy. It met my expectations. It is a bit heavy but the sturdy feeling under foot make that a fair trade off.

This product is better than The Little Giant for one simple reason—price. But this is more important than just budget. For a much lower price you get a ladder with the highest duty rating available (IAA). Even though I don't get close to this capacity, I think it serves as a good base for a safe experience. Of course you still have to follow proper safety practices. Most importantly, make sure the ladder always has sturdy footing, the hinges are fully engaged, and when the ladder is in its extension configuration (completely straight) make sure it's leaning at a 75 degree angle. A good rule of thumb is to measure 1 ft. away from the wall for every 4 ft. of height on the wall. Please don't disregard this. Take out your measuring tape EVERY TIME. I'm very happy using this product, and I'm happy that the price is accessible enough so I can afford a product fit for professional use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from We bought the ladder to paint our house. It... We bought the ladder to paint our house. It worked fine as a step ladder except for the weight! This thing is heavy. I couldn't move it by myself. I had to have help. When it is extended as an extension ladder it reached up to the roofline ok, but at the middle where it pivots, it seems to be weak. I didn't like the way it bent when I was climbing up the ladder and reached the middle (I'm a 150 lbs). Over all I'm disappointed. Think I'm going to return the ladder and keep looking for one that will be strong, but lighter.

Love the height of this ladder, the versatility & weight of it, and how easy it is to raise & lower and lock into place. It states it can hold 375 pounds of weight, however, I feel that may be a little too much for this ladder (although I could be mistaken). The only "down-side" to this ladder is that when you have it fully extended as far as it will go, the edges do "give" just a little more than I'm comfortable with. It's a great ladder & I would definitely recommend it, but I do wish the sides were just a little more stiff while it was fully extended just for a more secure feeling of safety. Besides that, great ladder!

I'm happy to FINALLY have my own Multi-Possitional Ladder (so is my neighbor). It's GREAT on stairs, when I need to change the light bulbs in a fixture I can't reach with anything else.

This product is extremely sturdy and I felt very secure climbing up when fully extended. I was also very comfortable with my children climbing up and down on both sides at the same time putting up ornaments on our Christmas tree. The product is a bit challenging at first to lock the extending ladder in place, but easy once you get the hang of it. I have used it on multiple projects including changing lights above stairwells and the two sided functionality comes in very handy. Not too heavy and stores nicely I am happy with this ladder.
