Well Built and Light. Actually 14.5ft not 18ft.
This ladder is fairly easy to move around and seems well built. Having it folded makes it easy to put over your shoulder and seems balanced in that position. I have one main gripe with this ladder and the advertising. The Home Depot and Gorilla Ladder website both say this is a 18foot reach, that is not the case. With the ladder fully extended to the safe working position you are getting 176" or 14.67' (FT). The only way you are getting 18' (FT) is if you disassemble the ladder. It should be noted on the side of the ladder in small print it does state the reach is under 15ft (4.52m). Again, great ladder for a 14' (FT) ladder. Pretty deceptive practice calling it an 18' reach and naming it MPXA-18.

Complete trash.
Extremely disappointed with Home Depot. This ladder is trash, required rework just to use it. Home Depot has blocked my review twice because they dont like it, and at this point I will reconsider ever using them again for a product. If you want a garbage ladder for almost $200, here it is.

This folding/multipositioning/extendable ladder is at least 3 ladders in one! You don't have to haul around different ladders for different applications, you always have the right ladder. We had so many ladders of different heights and now they have been gifted to family because we only need this one. That makes more room in our garage, too. With this ladder's high weight limit, we also don't have to worry about ruining it or getting hurt. Transporting a ladder to our rental property was too difficult and we never liked leaving a ladder on property. This ladder fits into our vehicle easily, which makes it even more portable and valuable. See photo. The biggest bonus is getting into the attic without having to maneuver a tall ladder through the house, this one stays compact until you extend it where needed. We love it so much we even got one as a gift for our son. Now, that's an endorsement!

Speed Lock Broke part 2
This is a follow up to my first review. The company was very quick to resolve the issue. They sent me another plastic handle with a pin. The new pin is very different from the original and easy to assemble. The directions for replacing the old pin did not work. I needed to hacksaw the old pin. If you need to do this make sure the bolt is engage in the position that has it at it’s furthest point from the ladder. Otherwise the bolt will slide back into the body of the ladder. If this happen you will need a very thin screwdriver to pry the bolt back out. I also had another Speed Lock handle begin to break about a week later. I alerted the company about this. They called me and I spoke with a very nice technician. I had sent photos and a detailed account of what happened. He stated, and I totally believe him, that I was the first to experience this problem. That was reassuring. He also stated that he had put a ladder of the same model through all kinds of tests but could not replicate my situation. The company has been great and the customer service has been exceptional. Thus I am changing my review to 5 stars.

Speed Lock Broke
I had this ladder for six months. I am a home owner using the ladder for an interior painting project at home. Up until this point I have really enjoyed the ladder. However when I tried to use it to finish up my painting project the Plastic Speed Lock brook in half as I tried to turn it to raise the ladder. It makes me think this is a design flaw to use plastic for such an important function. Other ladders use metal releases for this function. I have informed the company about this. I am waiting for their response. I will do a follow up review once the company gets back to me.

A quality product I wish I'd bought sooner. I'll skip the specs on this ladder since those are on this page elsewhere. For awhile now I'd had 2 different ladders, both very high end models. One was a 6ft and the other was an 8 ft fiberglass ladder. I sold the 8 foot awhile back, I thought why did I ever buy two that were kinda close together in size. My plan was to buy a maybe 16 foot aluminum extension ladder to go with my 6 foot step ladder. I ended up running across the Gorilla 22ft MPX Multi position ladder on sale and thought well for not much more I could have that. The sale was only on the 22ft model which is why I choose it over the 17ft model which was more in line with my original plan of buying a 16ft extension ladder. I drove my car instead of my truck to the HD pickup location after ordering online because when the ladder is folded it fits in the back of a small hatchback when the seats were down. Yes even a 22ft model will fit. So first things... Yes this ladder is heavier than a comparable aluminum extension ladder. I want to state this so it's no surprise. It's about 20lbs heavier than my 6ft fiberglass ladder. Which 20lbs doesn't sound like much but it kinda is. As far as the rest of the ladder... I'm impressed. It's well made and feels very sturdy and durable when up on it even when it's near full extension. The main frame locks work well and are quite large and easy to push. They hold their unlock position until the next available slot to drop in, whether that's an A frame opening or the fully open extension position. These same locks drop in with a solid and healthy clunk. It's as stable and wobble free as a competing brand I checked out. As far as extending the legs I find them to move smoothly and quietly. The leg locks are super handy in that you turn just one quarter turn and they hold open as you lean the ladder away from you and the legs slide out. Once they slide out just turn the locks back to their lock position and they will fall into the lock position as the extended leg opening passes the lock. One item I didn't think about but I can report as a plus it the use of this ladder in it's A frame position. I saw this ladder as a step ladder and an extension ladder. Which it is. But because it's the 22ft when it's in the A frame open position a person can get pretty high on it when the legs are extended, more than an 8ft foot step ladder. On top of that it's a 300lb limit, but in that configuration it's 300 per side. Which is quite a lot and has equal rungs on it each for climbing which a regular step ladder will not. As I said I'd have been happy with the 17ft model. In it's closed position it would fit not just in a hatchback like my car but probably in some regular car trunks compared to my 22ft model. Plus it weighs less. However because the ladder extends by sliding out legs within its legs I'm guessing when they would be extended to the same height the 22 might feel more stable has it would have "more" leg inside the outer leg, if that makes sense. While the rungs aren't as large as a regular stepladder I do believe them to be a bit larger than a competing brand I checked out. Also, if the ladder isn't fully extended the rungs are basically double wide. The rungs are riveted on and they look strong. A competing brand welds theirs on if that matters to you. Lastly not everything is great. There are a couple hangups. The first is that neither the 17ft or 22ft ladder comes with wheels to make transport easier. (Their 23ft model does however.... ) With that said Gorilla and HD do offer wheel kits. There are two different kinds. Make sure you purchase the correct one for the legs your ladder has. I did add wheels to mine and will include a picture of them. It made a big difference even rolling across grass. I really wish Gorilla just included these from the factory. The installation was easy, drill out two factory rivets that attach the feet and use the included bolts to attach the wheels. Another issue is I do miss having a tray to lay tools on. Yes again you can buy trays but I wish it was included like it is on the 23ft model. It's quite slick how they did it. Why didn't I just buy a 23ft instead of the 22? Because it's a heavier duty model. Type II I believe that cost much more than the 22 when it was on sale and also it holds I believe 375lbs per side! Anyway overall this was a great addition to my tools.

The ladder really extends as advertised. There is no tray like normal ladders. Also when extended, the ladder steps are not very wide. I used it on high stairs for pendant installation.

Great product and perfect for a home owner like myself. The ladder is very versatile and works for me around the house. I don't have stairs so I'm not taking advantage of that but for its size I'm able to get onto the roof and do things around the house as well so it's great in that regard. I'm pretty sure this thing will last me for a very long time and couldn't be happier with my purchase.
