It matters how many panels your running and the watts the panels are. But if your running a 1pp watt panel and running the 18 v light's you will be losing battery power. You will be charging but not enough to keep up with the 18 volts. That's a 12 volt set up. A 24 volt set up You need multiple panels and batteries and they have to be ran parraral and then you will be adding charge.

can someone help me to connect the app to my phone? is does not work yet

Answers

Are you running the system as the app is on or just have the controller hooked to the battery. You have to be running the entire system. And u have to download all the right files. If you didn't go to Grape Solar a d get the app and your running another app you will have problems.

What is the app for the iOS?

The app that is compatible with the current hardware is called PVChargePro in the app store and the Google Play Store.

Can the DC Load be direct wired to a light bulb and used as an on/off switch?

Asked by JC July 27, 2020

Answer

Assuming you have a low amperage, 12V DC light bulb you could directly wire the light bulb to the DC Load terminals on the Comet 40 charge controller. The DC Load button (on the Comet 40 charge controller) was designed to be used as an on/off switch.

Awesome controller. I decided to invest in a better quality & this controller has proven to be better than the rest. Just don't know how to get the code for using Bluetooth app. there was no instructions in the manual-should have been included. Controller works great though & even has output controlled with a daylight switch-no need for extra hardware.

I had initially bought the Harbor Freight 45Watt solar kit to get familiar with solar. It is built very cheap and in 6 month I had two HF charge controllers malfunction. I finally went with the Grape Solar PWM Solar Charge Controller. I've only had it a few months but I can already tell it is a much better product. Its quiet and seems to be well built. I will be ordering Grape Solar Panels in the future to build out my system.

I love it and it's very efficient. And has a lot of options and tells u everything also Bluetooth capable. Works almost as good as a MPPT which I have one and I can't tell much of a difference. This one has more options then my Mppt controller. And gives more info. Just can't change all settings. Only battery type and voltage. 40 amps and runs every bit of what it says it does unlike those cheap ones that say 40 amps a Your lucky to run 20. Don't let the 70 dollar price fool u for cheap because it isn't cheaply built or cheap quality. Grape Solar is a Great company and this is there cheapest one but built just as well as there most expensive one. Look and try for yourself, u won't be disappointed.
