can I put this in without using the machine?

I have an old attic with (I think) loose rockwool insulation. I have a floor in my attic so I have to remove each board (and vacuum dirt!) before topping off existing insulation. Then I have to move the boxes etc that I have to the finished areas, so this will take several days. I do not think that I can keep the blower machine that long and I would prefer to minimize dust, so I am hoping that I can fluff up this insulation by hand and do the project as I am able.

I used a Worx brand 120volt electric leaf blower, 20+ feet of large diameter shop vac hose and a special vac hose to 1 inch adapter I think I purchased direct from Green Fiber. I drilled holes through 2 layers of 1 inch boards on the exterior using a 1 inch speed bore bit. I went through several bits. I drilled holes every 3 to 4 ft starting at the bottom in each cavity. Jambed the one inch nozzle in the bottom hole, blew the insulation in until it started blowing out the top holes. Then I moved up to the next higher hole and blew it in until it came out the top hole and then finally, I blew it in the top hole. I then sealed the fill holes with canned foam, trimmed and painted to match the 70 year old faux redbrick tar paper siding. I found the machine from the store to be heavy and bulky and more suited for a construction job site where you have 2 or 3 people working the job. The machine also needed the insulation to be broken up by hand saving me no labor over having to do the same thing with the leaf blower. I do not think the store machine broke it up a fine as the leaf blowers small impeller. The machine may have an advantage when you have large open cavities as I still had to drill holes every 3 to 4 feet. For the leaf blower, I found a large Serlite storage bin that held a whole bale of insulation. After jamming the 1 inch adapter into the hole in the wall, I then turned on the leaf blower and then fed the crumbled insulation into the intake nozzle. You just need to break up enough to get sucked up the nozzle. I could not find any heat leaks using a FLIR imager.

I have a space behind my kitchen cabinets where my plastic water pipes run next to an exterior wall along the floor. Will blowing this insulation into that space help to insulate those water pipes? Getting directly to the pipes without major demo is not an option.

Yes,if you can get it in . However I wouldn't worry about it much. To my knowledge most interior water pipes are not insulated.
