Will this work on a 1.75" thick door?

No, it won't -- at least, not "as is." The inside clear width of the space for the door inside the rectangular bend of its two top brackets is just short of 1-1/2," so this seems to have been made for doors no more than the standard 1-3/8" thick (leaving space for the 2 stick-on protective pads that come with this item).

H Stainless Steel Over the Door Drying Garment Rack just works. It hangs out of the way when not in use and easy (with a little nudge) to assemble when needed. I have wood frame frosted glass doors and was concerned I would have to put it away after each use but with it's clean design I find it looks good enough to keep up all the time. It is good for a few items on a rainy day or general use for those delicate items.The gap between drying rods varies between 2 and 2-1/2" to help with thicker items like wool sweaters but you might need to skip a rod or two for optimal drying.

Very sturdy and holds several items at once for drying like towels, jeans, etc. Good for laying a sweater flat. Handy for hanging multiple garments up on plastic hangers for steaming out wrinkles too! Just be mindful to close it down flat after removing dried items so you or someone else doesn't walk into it.

Surprisingly well constructed and it folds flatly out of the way when not needed. The trick is to check the dimensions and the space available behind your door of intended use to make sure it will fil in the intended space when the door opens and the unit is extended. Our problem was that momma wanted to put in her bathroom and it fit the per-hung, Masonite door just fine but when she tried to open the door the adventure began. The ample, unfolded size of the unit takes up an area appx. 2' square and in a smaller room you may not have enough room before the unit bumps into something which was our issue. Placement issues aside, the unit is very handy, according to her, even folded behind the door. An ideal solution would be support bars that allowed the unit to be partially lowered at some point(s) other than 90 degrees. This would give the rack much more versatility, especially in smaller rooms. It will easily support 4 pair of jeans. For shirts, put on hangers then hang on the rods, I have had up to 6 shirts at a time and they dry quickly. It's much sturdier than it looked at first look, and when not in use, it collapses flat across the door. A simple thing, with a lot of thohght. Does not mar the door either, because it comes with pads you stick on the contact points. I think you're gonna like this!

We really needed this as I like to take out some of the laundry while still damp. The trick was to find the appropriate door for this. It had to be a door that would not need opening and closing while the rack in in use. So the inside of the walk-in closet fit the bill. The felt pads helped prevent scratches on the door. The rack is big enough for our needs. I may add extra felt pads at the bottom to prevent it banging against the door while rack is folded flat.

The best way I can describe this is that it is a good enough indoor drying rack, especially for the price. It is a little wonky to get the support bar attached to the hooks, but once in place, it is sturdy enough. I like that it is easily collapsible to save on space though. You might have to get a little creative to get it to hold all your clothing because of the way the bars are oriented...even with hangers there isn't much space to work with.

It fits over the top of a door and raises up to provide a drying rack. It really needs to be secured to the door so it doesn't move around when the door is opened and closed. It comes with contact pads to prevent scratching the door in just. The tubes that make up the rack are a little thin and one was slightly bent in the box so check it carefully after buying.
