Hello Go, No, this is an 18 inch unit and we do not advise using any other size bar/chain as it will affect the performance of the unit.

I know it depends on how you use it, but rough guess on how long the battery will last?

I bought this chainsaw to cut up a downed pine tree that was about 24" in diameter. Although I had to cut from 2 sides, and use undercuts, it worked just fine. I am a woman, so I appreciate the light weight, push button start, and reliable starting. I would highly recommend a second battery though. One battery charge will give you about 30 minutes of continuous cutting and the battery will be too warm to immediately recharge. By the time you wait for cool down and recharging, it is at least a 1-hour delay. A second drawback is the chain. It's very easy to adjust, which is nice, but it is not a standard size for common resharpening tools. Overall, no regrets. We have 3 sizes of Stihl gas chainsaws. Except for small jobs for my 14" Stihl, I would choose this saw first every time just because it is so light, easy to use, easy to clean, and starts every time.

Very good saw
It’s amazing. Easy to use and powerful. I’m a 57 years old Asian woman and I love using it.

Quiet, easy to use
We got this tool to clear some maple trees that had fallen over onto our fences. Added oil and tightened the chain and it did not cut as expected. After a moment we realized the chain was pre-installed backwards. Flipped it around out in the yard in the snow. Cut about 10 trees varying from 3 to 12" diameter into 2 foot lengths. No issues at all. Worked great. Had about 50% battery left afterwards. Light and easy to use. Excellent product!

Good saw so far
Had this saw for only a month; am enjoying it so far. It's lighter and less noisy than my 2-cycle gas saw, but has plenty of power. Battery life on a full charge is adequate, but don't think it lasts quite as long as a tank of gas in my gas saw.

Better than expected 4.5 stars
I’m a 40 year old woman who has never owned a chainsaw before. After using the greenworks line for my lawn this summer and being impressed I decided to buy it. It’s very light, easy to use (following the instructions I was cutting stuff down within 30 minutes). After the battery charged I used it for 3 hours of nearly non-stop cutting and it still had two bars left on the battery. If I could give half stars I would give this 4.5 - deducting the half point because it didn’t come with “bar and chain oil” that it absolutely must have to operate and I had to go and get it. The shipping was ridiculously fast, I joked with my husband that they may have had someone waiting down the block when I ordered it because it came a day or two later. So far I’m pleased with all my greenworks tools and I’m happy to have another battery for next spring when I’m back to mowing.

A Wye to remember
I got this wonderful battery chainsaw for Christmas. Opening the box, the 18" bar is impressive. I naturally assumed then I could cut down 18" tree trunks. The first day I got use to the saw on some 6"specimens. It cut them all up in a single charge. I was wheelbarrowing the cut pieces to my truckbed as I went, so it was a few small cuts, then a long pause. The 18" By 24" Wye tree was the fifth tree I tried on my second day of use. It was two 18" trunks Wyed together, with two smaller leaders; a challenging trunk pair to cut down without damaging the leaders. It took all day to fell the two trees. A full charge takes 1h on battery charger. Running the saw continuously, the battery lasts less than half that time. a. First the horizontal cut and 30deg wedge pullout at the base of the first Wye trunk. I like to cut a quarter of an inch from the ground, and I quickly realized the saw is made to cut on just one side. That side unfortunately has the battery retainer clip. So as you cut parallel to the ground, the clip drags, and the battery can release. Given it is a big battery, it'll fall out of the connection throngs, and you'll lose power. It was cold outside - mid 20's - but each time I came back in, half or more of the chain oil was depleted. So I don't think the oil delivery was the issue, it just didn't like the solid trunk. This again was two cuts to create the open wedge on one side so the tree could fall over easily. I had to recharge the battery a five times to complete just these two cuts. b. Second was the diagonal 30deg cut on the other side of the first Wye trunk. That I was able to make in two charges. I found the battery even when retained properly with the clip, since it is so heavy, will still jostle out of the throngs (will clip still engaged) and you'll have to push it back down. c. Third was the cleanup of the base of the first Wye trunk, which involved horizontal cuts and vertical cuts to remove sections, so I could get to the second Wye. Yay, halfway done; I started at 9am and it was 3pm now given having to charge so many times; it gets dark at 5:30pm. d. Fourth was the horizontal cut at the base of the second Wye. Now that the trunk was more of a normal shape, and was partially rotted. I just made the one cut and pushed the tree over with the blade stuck; not my finest moment but it was getting dark and I really wanted this job done in one day. Another charge cycle, urgh. e. Once the second 18" tree was felled, I was able to section it on one charge. It was dark when I did this 6pm, and I wanted it done before tomorrow's snow. That all said, this is the best chainsaw I have ever had. I tried my dad's 16" old Craftsman gas chainsaw, and I simply couldn't start it. I asked my dad to start it, and he couldn't it either. He tried a new spark plug, new air filter, cleaning the carbonator, but I think the pistons lost compression. We threw that out. Starting Greenworks saw is simple - just press two buttons simultaneously. No priming, no choke adjustment, no awkwardly holding it down and yanking with the starter cord. And customer service is great. I contacted them about the battery clip and I am getting a replacement.

No more frustration!
Beats smelling like exhaust after making a few cuts. No more fighting with an engine either to keep it running. This saw has just the right amount of power to take care of limbs and logs!

60v chain saw with a 5 amp battery
I was impressed by the power available and above all the instant startup without a fight to start a gas engine. Very nice tool

Great chainsaw dont fool with gas
I added the Greenworks rechargeable chainsaw to my Greenworks stable and now I dont have to fight with a pull starter cable or gas/oil mix ever again. It can cut up several trees on one charge and if you get another battery you can keep on cutting.

Continued to be blown away!
I have owned several high-end gas chainsaws and trimmers throughout the years. I was always impressed with the power. But overtime they would all breakdown, usually involving the small engine. I decided to make the switch to Greenworks. I thought I would be giving up power when giving up gas. Boy was I wrong! My last purchase was a chainsaw to trim and cut down trees. I was really skeptical, but again, Greenworks knocked it out of the park! I easily went through 10-12” logs. My neighbors kept commenting on how quiet, but efficient the chainsaw was. A few even jumped in to help me with the work. Let me tell you something, a product is good when even your neighbors are willing to do your work for you as long as they get to use your tools!
