Is a brushless snow blower better

Hello Beanie - Brushless is the style of the motor. Brushless motors last longer, produce less heat, are more efficient and use less battery power, therefore increasing your overall battery life and efficiency.

Can this be used on a paver driveway? Is the skid bar metal?

Asked by KD February 4, 2021
1
Answer

Hello KD - Thank you for your question! Yes, you can use the snow blower on pavers. However, our 20" 60v does have metal skid plates. To avoid damaging the surface of your walkway, patio or driveway, you may want to look into installing a plastic or rubber piece to keep the metal on your snow blower from coming in contact with paved surfaces. Our check out our 60v 22" snow blower this unit comes with plastic skid plates.

Excellent performance, questionable durability
The machine is fine at clearing dry and slightly wet snow. I have concerns, however, about the durability of the machine. I have a 6-car concrete driveway plus about 100 ft of sidewalk to clear. I was only able to use the snow blower 3 times before the front wear pads wore out. That means I'll probably have to replace the wear pads 2 or 3 times each season! The problem appears to be the surface of the driveway (concrete with brush marks) is not very slippery. The friction causes the scraper on the bottom of the snow blower to drag. Not only does it make the blower difficult to push, it also puts all the weight of the snow blower on the wear pads. I would expect better engineering out of a machine with such a high price tag.

Awesome Power
My wife bought me this 60v 20" snow blower to compliment the rest of my 60v tools. Works great on 6" of snow.

Love my 60v Greenworks tools!
I bought this to replace my old gas powered snow blower. I love the power and that it start the same and uses the same batteries as my mower and blower. All interchangeable!

This isn't for heavy wet snow. It's more for the light, fluffy snow that's easier to clear. If the snow is wet and heavy, the snow blower may have some issues clearing out away efficiently. As a first time buyer, I learned that with heavy snow, do it in increments and not at one time once it's piled up or else the unit struggles.

The good and bad
The good: Comparing to my gas snow blower this has about the same power. The LED lights are awesome and light up the not so well lit areas of my driveway. It is light and easy to maneuver. Battery life last my entire driveway which can fit about 6 cars with room left over. It is easy to set up and run.The bad: The beauty of my gas snow blower is even though it's not self propelled the paddles help pull it across my driveway. This electric one does not. Which will wair you down faster. I feel like its a shovel that throws snow. Also, like a shovel the scraper plate on the bottom gets caught on the smallest cracks and on compacted snow. Overall: I feel this is a cross between a gas snow blower and a shovel. I don't think it's worth the price but you don't have the hassle of dealing with gas and oil. No maintenance may make up for the greater costs over time. I recommend this for smaller driveways. Bigger driveways I would stick with gas.

I am a 73 year woman. At times the snow blower has been difficult to use but I guess it depends on the snow quality,. I am not sorry that I bought this snow blower. I just thought that it would be easier to use.. During one storm the chute got clogged with ice repeatedly and I had to stop and remove the ice. For the price that I paid, I could have paid someone to do my driveway and sidewalks several times ( if you can even find someone) but I am not ready to give up on the snow blower. I just want to be independent and do things for myself... I have every season under control except Winter.and this has been a bad one. The battery is excellent and I can easily charge and install it . I think that a man or a younger woman would have no problem using this snow blower...I just need more practice and I am still fairly good with a shovel .

Convenience and efficiency from a trusted name
I have many cordless power tools from the Greenworks line, all 40 volt until now, and I love and appreciate them all. The quality and convenience for the price is phenomenal, and for my aging situation they've been a great help. I decided to step up to the 60V, 6Ah (less Ah would be fine) battery system for the snow thrower after seeing other units offered with less power I didn't trust for moving decent amounts of snow. Havingused it now a couple of times, with even slushy snow, I can say it is a great product. The 60 vots gives it a little extra to move a lot of snow with minimal effort. It's perfect on pavement, and can even clear grassed areas with a little care. I highly encourage anyone interested to not hesitate in choosing this, or any of the other, Greenworks products.
