Questions & Answers

can these be used to attach stud walls to concrete slab?

Asked by: wilbur
They're too short for a 1 1/2" bottom plate... I assume you are prepared to predrill the concrete since that is what you need to do with these... You can use regular 16D nails effectively... Like these you need to pound them in straight and hard... Another option is drill and screw the plates down with 3" Tapcons, also available at Home Depot, and you don't half to be a practiced hammer swinger to make it work

What size masonry bit is needed to attach wood to cementitious walls? Drill deep to avoid, or shallow to allow, mushing of the tip? I would think the smallest would be the wide width of the tip; what would be a standard guide for other sizes...

With these "Cut Nails" you don't pre-drill, just use a heavy hammer such as a Drilling Hammer and safety glasses, very important

Can these cut nails be used for wide plank flooring?

Asked by: islandnailer
Yes they can. Use 2 per joist 1/4-1/2" from edge. Pre drill abutting end cuts and at walls. NAIL top should run parallel to grain. Otherwise it creates a wedge which will split the wood. You would need approximately 20 nails if 16" on center per 10' of board. Hope this helps.
