I worked as an industrial mechanic for decades and used many screws and boltsover the years. Screws measure in inches at 1/4 and above. Below 1/4 yo will use numbers. The numbers are assigned instead of a decimal point number. The larger the number the larger diameter screw. Hope this helps. Charles

The polymer coating is a plastic like or ceramic based coating designed to prevent the material you're drilling into from rusting the screw, thereby increasing the life of the screw. Under ideal circumstance and if the coating remains intact I'm sure it would help. However, when driving the screw or if its subjected to excessive force in experience this coating will crack allowing the elements to rust and ruin the screws. For treated deck boards I would suggest a treated deck board screw with a star drive or a better option would be a stainless steel deck screw. Both should last longer than these for that application.
