With what's likely 3/8" ply and the depth of the planking, it should be just enough to barely go past the drywall and into anything behind it. I don't know if you're trying to hit a stud, at which point you may want something a little longer. I used them for some trim in my bathroom and they worked well and have a slightly broader head on them so all of the leftovers worked well for hanging pictures & tin tackers
