Questions & Answers

Will these screws replace door hinge screws that do not go deep enough for real protection?

I want to replace these on front door, door leading to garage and garage side door. #8 3 IN. PHILLIPS BUGLE-HEAD WOOD SCREWS (1 LB.-PACK)
Asked by: FrankAZ
These will work good for attaching hinge between garage and living area. I would use only exterior quality screws into door jamb from garage to side yard as the utility grade will rust.

Photo shows oval head, not bugle

Do these really have a bugle head (with a curved slope between the head and the shaft) like the description says, or do they have an oval head (with a straight cone coming to a sharp angle with the shaft) like the photo indicates? I'm looking for bugle, because I do a lot of temporary wood construction with drywall screws (for theatre sets). I know the bugle head countersinks into the soft pine I use, but I'm not sure about the more traditional wood-screw head that's pictured. thanks!
Asked by: JennD
The oval head screw will countersink into soft pine.

This same P/N / SKU / UPC used to be #9 gauge screws, now it is #8. Why would you make a change like this and not change the part number? I thought it was a typo on the product page but apparently that is what you are selling now. This is not like a 12 oz. pound of coffee - a #8 screw will not do the same job as a #9 screw.
Asked by: Greg
I use them when I making a project using 2 by haven't had an issue. You need to direct your question to the maker of the product. We sell what we order and receive.
