AnswersThat is correct. Unless your engineer has specified their use for that application I would not use in that way. They are perfect for fastening beck boards, treads etc and remember times 2 is the math to determine the screw needed.

AnswersNo, these are zinc plated and are not rated for outdoor use. The pressure treating chemicals will "eat" through the zinc plating. I would suggest getting the specially coated versions.

AnswersHank or anyone, I would not use this screw this way. Make no mistake about it that are an amazing screw however I would look for and use a screw for that application. Not all screws are the same. Good luck, another idea is to have you engineer do the "math" for your application.

I replaced my tiny screws on my exterior doors with these screws. Added protection against those who wish to enter your home without a key. Strengthens your hinges, striker plates and dead bolts on your exterior doors and the room in your house that you use as your safe room. I would recommend using them.

I highly recommend using a 20V drill or Impact driver for it.

i have used these for several years. if you are building where there will be any significant weight or any shear weight [90 degrees to the screw] you do NOT want to use drywall screws, no matter how long they are. these are much stronger in every way.
however, in my last box I came across one that has me puzzled as to its application. [see pic]
this is obviously a mistake and I have only ever found this one in all the boxes I have bought. but, if I find more in future boxes, I will be returning the box for exchange. this is a good product, but these are too expensive to get unusable ones.
