Questions & Answers

Do I need to pre-drill holes or drill a counter sink into my composite before drilling these screws in?

Asked by: Jones
I tried not pre-drilling and found that even though they will eventually go in, it is MUCH faster to pre-drill the holes. I have one drill set up with a 1/16" bit and the torx bit is in an impact driver. It is much much faster to pre-drill a hole, swap tools, and drive the fastener home, then is it to try to get these to go in without a pilot hole. I have only installed about 1600 of these so far. Trust me, I have tried various methods to do it more quickly.

Do you drill pilot holes for these screws to prevent splitting of the Veranda boards? Also does anyone have an idea how many screws are in a 5lb box?
