The 36 in. x 42 in. black, Spear Point Window Bar is engineered from 1/2 in. welded tubular steel for strength and added security against forced entry. The black powder coat finish adds beauty and weather durability. Several color matched mounting brackets are available. (Sold Separately) Choose from 3 in. projection brackets, flush-mount brackets and inside window frame mount brackets. Mounting bracket sets includes 3 in. non-reversing safety screws to complete the installation process. Quick Release accessory is required by fire code to meet designated escape window regulations.

What is the distance from the top of spear to the center of top hole and what size drill bit should I use
Zeke, A 1/4" inch drill bit is required for the non-reversing safety screw pilot holes. Not sure I understand the question regarding top of spear to the top-hole. The window bars require the added purchase of the mounting brackets that best fit your application. Each mounting bracket kit includes the safety screws. Is there a way to attach 2 panels together so it can fit on a larger window?

Bionic, The screws supplied with the mounting brackets can be fastened into brick, concrete block and stucco with a wood backer. In some cases a masonry wall anchor might be required. Can I cut down the 36" wide spear tip to 31.75" wide?
MrMike273, You could, but that would leave an open cavity for moisture to enter the picket tubes. Result would be rust and potential rust deposits on the window sill. Thank You, Grisham Bros.
