100 sq. ft. Big Roll Fine Fescue Mixture

I'm really pleased with how the grass grew in. It's very even and plush. When I used loose grass seed it grew in patches. It's also noce how it stays in place. I plan to get another roll to do a slope at the end of my yard that did not grow at all when I used loose grass seed. The picture was after about 2 or 3 weeks.

This grow mat of FIne Fescue Mixture by Grotrax is an excellent product with several nice features. It is a complete growing system that encompasses seed, starter fertilizer, and mulch. The big roll covers 100 sq. ft. and works great on areas that are hard grow seed only...slopes, drainage area, shady areas, and high traffic area. It comes with easy to follow instructions and establishes quickly. Very cost effective when you consider it has a high rate of success...no re-seeds. It worked great on strip from a water line install that had been seeded numerous time. Give it try on that hard to grow area.

Grotrax 100 sq. ft. Big Roll Fine Fescue Mixture It is a nice novel idea to use a sheet of biodegradable thing with seeds and fertilizer and bingo! You get grass. The roll contains fine fescue grass seeds which are perennial. The roll itself is 100 feet and can be cut with a pair of scissors easily to fit as per needs. Remember you need to prepare your lawn for this product. It needs contact with soil and for that you need to clear your lawn and have some work done. If you have existing lawn then having this sheet might turn out to be much more work than you need. For someone who is looking to grow grass afresh this might be worth a look.

You must follow the detailed instructions before you begin because once you water it, you can't move this around as it sticks to the ground. I couldn’t do exactly as the instructions tell you I’d have to water each section at a time and it was a bit windy and difficult to keep it from moving. You’re to overlap the seams so there is no gap and only water one section at a time because once you water it, it sticks to the ground and you cannot move it around. I found it easier to cut all the pieces and hold them down with bricks until it was time to water. This worked perfectly for me. As soon as I started to water the entire area, the green sheet stuck to the ground in place and was then able to remove the temporary bricks at each end. I really like how this product works, it immediately releases the fertilizer. You need to water 2-3 times a day. The fall is the best time to do this so you take advantage of the rainy days and not have to water as much.

I'm really excited to receive this innovative product. I have an area of my yard where I struggle to grow grass and this seems like the perfect fix. I cleared the area and broke up the soil so that the seed can take easier. I put down the roll and watered. Once we the roll will stick to the ground pretty well. It does become fragile once wet if you were to stop on it. It wouldn't wash away in the rain like seed can. Note that there is a little shrinkage so I would recommend to overlap about 1 inch if laying in rows. Instructions state to water 3 times daily or enough to keep wet at all times. I'm looking forward to the results and will update with photos of grass once growing.

This is great if you want to easily install and grow fine fescue grass. Once established fine fescue will tolerate short cuttings or no cutting at all. It is also more drought tolerate. This is very easy to lay down, you can cut it to different lengths/sizes and place where and how you want. BUT, don't do my husbands crazy idea and soak the roll in his tractor bucket than try and lay it down!! Lol. All you have to do is roll it out! Then wet it. I carefully tried to lay it down after he soaked it and have been keeping it moist (as you can see in my pics). The first pic of it installed is three days after we laid it down and the other two were on the first day. Yours will not look like this if you lay the correct way and follow the instructions included! I think it will still grow in a couple of weeks.

Lightweight, easy to cut. I cut a few strips down to use in smaller patches even. Using it on a very sloped hill and no concerns so far. Keeping it moist at first essentially "glues" it down and there has been no seed runoff down the hill- which was my chief concern, especially with all the rain we've gotten lately. I didn't use any stakes or pins to anchor it. I bought one roll as a test so I just bought two more as the test was highly successful. Little over a week and I have grass starting. I'm sold. It's just what my yard needed.

This light weight roll comes in a compact package, is two feet wide by fifty feet long, and is an easy to use product. Simply roll it out and wet it down, and it stays in place – no need to stake it. Seed and fertilizer is bound between two layers if bio-fabric. The material resembles felt, and you can cut it with a knife, scissors, or simply rip it. I found it works great for large or small patches, as it can be easily cut to size. The roll consists of a fine mixture of grass seed and started fertilizer. Tearing it apart revealed a decent amount of seed per sq. foot of material. This is a great patching product or it can be used for repairing a larger area of ground. The grotrax material holds 6 times in weight in water, helping to germinate the seed faster and reducing the number of times you need to water. I found that twice a day kept the material damp. As the product states, for fast germination and uniform growth, simply roll, water and watch it grow! I have tried several rolled lawn patch/repair products and this is the one I like the best so far due to its ease of placement. Once down and moist, wind has no effect. The 1000 sq. ft. roll covers a nice size area for the price. This roll was fine fescue mix, other mixes are available depending of what you are trying to match.

19.79% Orbit Creeping Red Fescue seed There count be any easier way to plant grass evenly, you simply roll this ‘paper’ out over the soil, and water it! You get 100 square feet in a 2 ft wide roll of 50 ft. The material can be easily cut with scissors as needed, this means one can also shape it into any small areas. It is very easy to roll out. It is a matter of unrolling the product and then wetting it in stages, so that it sticks to the ground. A nice product idea. In addition to the ease of laying it out, you also get a nice even distribution of seed. The most critical thing is to keep the area wet, the manufacturer suggest a light watering 2 or 3 times per day, without strong jets of water and flooding the area, which would wash the material away with the seed. Since it is already late in the year here in Maine, I laid out a small test area and wet it gently. As soon as the material gets wet it starts to dissolve and sticking itself onto the ground. I have set my lawn sprinkler to wet the area for 10 minutes 3 times per day. It will take a couple of weeks before I can see growth progress…. I will put the rest out in the spring. Made in the USA

We had tried many different solutions throughout the summer to get grass back on our little hill beside the house, but we couldn't get anything to grow between critters making off with the seeds and rain washing it downhill. This product is a fantastic solution to the problem, and it's easy to use to boot. Just roll it out and cut to size. Once watered down, it sticks to the underlying surface. The layers of "mulch", feed, and seed work together to give the grass the best possible start and take root. In other areas we have a lot of weeds because the hay we used to cover the seeds was infiltrated with weed seeds. No problem with that using this product!
