Questions & Answers

Do you sell the 8g co2 cartridges that go with the 64 oz. Ukeg. If so what number so I can add to my order.

Hello, Home Depot does not sell the GrowlerWerks box of CO2, although each uKeg 64 and uKeg 128 includes two CO2 cartridges. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you for your question and support of our product. Beth

Nelly

Will the growler work for coffee?

It is not a gravity feed, it requires a charging gas in order to dispense a liquid. CO2 probably won't carbonate hot coffee so you could probably use it. Your other option is to use nitrogen. Nitrogen only has about 1/3 of the propellant capacity of CO2.

Pauly

Probably but you would need to use a nitrogen gas cartridge instead of a CO2 cartridge unless you want carbonated coffee. Hmm that may be interesting.

(What's this)
Now that craft beer is everywhere, I wanted something more than my glass growler that only keeps beer drinkable for a day or two and I will at some point drop it and it will shatter. I ordered the uKeg by Growlerwerks and this is definitely the way to store your draft beer! I’m very impressed by the quality of materials (double-wall vacuum insulated Stainless steel and polished brass) and the fit and finish of it is just beautiful! This uKeg not only keeps my beer cold, carbonated and fresh, but makes a true statement that I am serious about my beer. I followed the initial instructions in the well written manual and also went to the website https://www.growlerwerks.com/ they have an excellent website and worth checking out their many instructional videos, additional useful info and troubleshooting instructions. After initial cleaning and installing the CO2 charging cartridge, it was off to my local craft brewery. When I walked into the bar my uKeg caught the attention of several patrons. The bartender filled it up to overflow the rim and screwed on the cap leaving no air inside the container. And then cleaned the outside and wiped it dry. I turned the pressure dial on to about 10 on the little dial pressure gauge for an IPA. (Per owner’s manual) and when I got home I put it in the fridge. I rotated the spout assembly to fit better on my fridge shelf and making it convent for a pour while sitting there on the shelf. (See photo) I let it rest for a half hour from the car ride home and I then got my glass and enjoyed my first pour. A week later I’m still drinking that same beer as fresh and delicious as the day I got it. I haven’t been able to verify the two week expectations because 64 oz. of fresh craft draft beer in my fridge will never be there for that long. I can say that I don’t see any reason why it would not last 2 weeks if you keep it refrigerated and the pressure on the gauge shows continued correct pressure. I am very pleased with this product and have ordered more CO2 for future fills. Growlerwerks understands beer and their products and their response time was excellent. I had a question for the Technical Dept. and I sent them an email. In less than 24 hours I got a lengthy email from “Josh” complete with highlighted photos to help answer my questions.

(What's this)
If you like draft beer, cider, Kombucha, or even homemade root beer or other carbonated concoctions but find your beverage going flat before you can consume it this is for you. My unit has been working without a hitch. The entire device is designed to take apart. No pressure fitted throw away pieces on this item. It fits in the quick access door of my fridge. I don't even have to take it out to poor a cold one. I have purposefully been drinking a hard cider slowly over the past week to see how the carbonation and flavor changes. with about 2/3 gone it is still fully carbonated. In fact as a test after day 6 I turned the dial to zero, removed the cap to depressurize the growler, replaced the cap, and re-pressurized it. Cider needs 9-12 PSI so I believe one CO2 cartridge can last more than one fill depending on your usage. the cartridges aren't too expensive so not a big deal to use a fresh one each time. The flavor is still good. Not quite as fresh as day one but close. Also depends how long it was in the keg before I bought it. There is a well laid out user manual that shows step by step how to maintain it, what pressure to use for the type of beverage, and especially what NOT to do. It has been very easy to use. 1. make sure all the parts in the cap assembly are tight. 2. Be sure the pressure setting is on zero 3. slide in an 8 gram CO2 cartridge (2 are provided to get you started). 4. screw the CO2 sleeve onto the pressure cap until the hissing stops. 5. fill with beer, close the cap, turn up the pressure to desired setting. 5. to reuse just rinse everything down, inspect parts, air dry and your ready to go. As you can see it fits in my fridge door. I pour it right from the door. put a piece of paper towel under it. Mine will drip about 2 drops after I shut it off. you can simply use a piece to dab it and it won't drip but putting one under it means I don't have to mess with it each time. I think the 128 ounce is a better value if you can drink that much in two weeks. The 64 ounce is the traditional growler size and is very portable. The 64 ounce uses one 8 gram cartridge per fill. 128 ounce uses a 12 gram. You can carbonate a flat beverage but I didn't try it. instructions say to fill as usual and let sit 2-3 days to fully carbonate. If you don't drink it all at once replace the cartridge to keep it carbonated. Ukeg does offer a 16 gram sleeve for home brewers. A great option for experimenting. I wish it came with their special maintenance tool. At some point the o rings will wear out but there is maintenance kit that can be purchased which includes the tool. Instructions say you can use a butter knife or key to tighten the cap which is important to ensure no leaks. Also inspect the rings before first use to ensure they are on flat and straight or you will get leaks. I imagine there will be a mini explosion of custom tap handles for this since it is replaceable. All in all a great option for folks who want craft beverages and not be forced to drink them in two days or hassle with pouring off into ever smaller containers which still doesn't keep your beverage fresh more than 3 or 4 days from my experience.

What an amazing invention! Saves you so much money than getting a full keg of beer or the annoyance of buying cases of bottles. This thing fits in a normal size refrigerator and is pressurized to keep the beer fresh and carbonated. I imagine this works great with soda or sparkling water. You can probably carbonate flat drinks as well. It doesn't hurt that it looks super cool. The copper gives it an authentic feel. The inside is easy to clean and looks very sterile. It also tells you exactly how much pressure is inside with a cool looking gauge. This will be the talk of the town at my next MahJong club game. I plan on bringing this to my local craft beer brewery and taking home sixty four ounces of deliciousness with me.

I've watched a few youtube comparison videos and decided to pull the trigger on ukeg. I'm not disappointed at all! The materials and build quality seem top notch, the thing looks amazing. This was also my first home-growler/tap experience and I gotta say I'm not going back to bottles unless I have to - although I live within walking distance of a great micro-brew, so refills are quick and easy for me. The gas system takes a bit of getting used to and I haven't been able to get two full fills out of one co2 cartridge... but that's not a big deal for me.

Most of the other reviews must be fakes. This thing is not well built. Looks good but it will leak immediately or shortly after with virtually no customer support. You will leak from the tap that isn't well built and probably the pressure gauge to boot. Don't worry though as the oring and regulator assembly won't work for long spewing your co2 immediately upon trying to install it. They will direct you to how to videos and tell you you should buy the repair items from them if you can get them to respond to your email.. 3 weeks min wait..... Warranty... Yeaaaah not. Strongly suggest against.
