Unfortunately as it came freight the Estes didn’t handle the package well. The outer packaging was shredded and made carrying from road difficult. It had to be removed before carrying it in. Upon unwrapping it was found the underside was quite damaged from shipping as well as the underside had many uneaven sections where it wasn’t planed well I get this was an unfinished butcher block . And since the damage was on the underside it wasn’t a huge concern. However it did make applying the finish more work and harder to get a good coat on damaged areas

Can Home Depot cut this to the size I need?

Asked by Tammy January 10, 2021

Answer

Ask your local Home Depot. If they agree to cut it make sure they leave 1/4". The saw at Home Depot uses a rougher blade. Then sand the rest of the way.

How should my countertop be stored until I can finish and install it?

Asked by Chuckb70 December 3, 2020

Answer

I put mine in the garage or a room and lay flat on the floor. Keep it away from air ducts and I always just toss a blanket or tarp on it.

Can you use with a farmhouse sink? Or does it need a drop in sink?

Did not cut into it but I am sure you could use a farmhouse sink. Very sturdy

Can these tops be used as workbench top for woodworking?

Asked by UncleT October 23, 2020
1
Answer

Yes. These make excellent workbenches. If making into a woodworking top I like to treat the wood with a floor-grade polyurethane. Treat all sides. This will make the bench last a long time.

Can these be used for outdoor kitchen?

Asked by Sands October 21, 2020

Answer

I do not recommend for an outdoor kitchen. The only good butcher block for outdoor use is the thermally modified ash butcher block.

when will this be back in stock?

These will be back in stock just before Thanksgiving.

How do attach the counter top to your cabinets? Glue?

Asked by Dillebean September 9, 2020

Answer

You can glue. I like to use wood screws from the bottom of the cabinets up. Make sure you don't penetrate the surface.

***Do not waste your time or money***
I received my online order today(three 8' countertops), I didn't look at the other two countertops before calling Home Depot to come pic the junk up. When I saw the first blemish I thought no big deal, the second one I was planning on just flipping it over, by the third I was aggravated to say the least, but by the forth I was just done. For the record Home Depot customer service was great! But I will never waste my time ordering any of their items on-line again.

We received the product very quickly. Our professional carpenter stained and sealed both pieces with Waterlox sealer which he has used on all of his products. He noticed that the butcher block had a slight bow to it. After placing it on our countertops he realized the bow was bigger than he realized, to the point that we can't get the counter level. He said in his 30 years of carpentry he has never had this issue, but he also has never used this brand. Very disappointed and a waste of $500.

Poor glue joints
I do a lot of butcher block counters, this was the first time using this brand. I was hesitant about using this because of the finger joints. I had to cut this butcher block down to have it fit, one of the cuts went right across one of the finger joints. The finger joints did not have enough glue in them and came apart right at the joint. Thoroughly disappointed. When you're doing counter tops for customers, you don't want these joints coming apart, or filling things with wood filler. Unfortunately, this is just expensive firewood for me now.

Purchased this product 3 weeks ago. After finishing the product with a gel stain that was recommended for it, a small 4 inch crack began to form a couple of days after receiving the product. Now the crack has extended the length of the countertop and is widening, making this an unusable countertop at this point. Extremely poor.

Beech butcher block is the traditional butcher block. Beech is more durable and more stable than many of the other hardwoods and your beech butcher block is priced much more reasonably than many. The product arrived in great shape, well packaged and perfectly flat. I would recommend it highly.

it was very pink-ish and the quality was not good. it was split down the middle, my contractor noticed it while he was getting ready to put it in. They took it back no problem, which was good but I got my countertops elsewhere.
