Asked by Aa70 April 30, 2021ALWAYS recommend very light sand prior to finish. Depending on counter use you can use toung oil varnish or finish with multi coats of mineral oil which is food safe

Id like to stain this wood dark, but also make it food grade safe. Is this possible? Thanks

What is the max recommended unsupported length of this countertop? I plan on having a 15" overhan...
Asked by Mike April 8, 2021it's my understanding the recommended overhang is 11"-12". Ours is 11" overhang on the long side and one short side and it is sturdy and looks good. We dry fitted with longer overhangs and it didn't quite l look right.
I am interested in the unfinished Birch butcher block countertop
Asked by Mike April 7, 2021Mike-if you wanna cut on this surface mineral oil, butcher block conditioner or linseed oil are your choices. Make sure you do all sides (then install). All take 2-coats initially, another in 10-days (just the top side as its not installed) and then once every 6-months. I use conditioner in my cabin with good results. I also use mineral oil a lot. For some reason I just don't have great results with the linseed oil---however some customers love the stuff.
Using as an Island in the kitchen - what is the best product to seal with?
Asked by Rocky April 5, 2021Rocky-for a high-traffic area that will not be directly cut on use a floor grade polyurethane. Its awesome. I have 3-kids and a dog that jumps on my countertops and this treatment works excellent.
Can you use this butcher block outside for a bar top, if you could what do you seal it with.

For a butt joint on an L shaped countertop can I cut the eased edge off only where the joint is and leave the edge on the exposed side? I have a 6’
Asked by TB March 29, 2021I don’t totally understand the question but you can cut it however you like and just sand down the edges to round them and match. It’s wood all the way through so very flexible.
