Maple is a classic wood, beloved and highly regarded for centuries. Maple becomes perfection in butcher block, with light, consistent colors, ranging from cream to light tan. Considered a hard wood, it will wear well and has good abrasion resistance. Maple has a fine, generally straight grain pattern, making it a coveted material for a traditional remodel. Remember that wood is a product of nature. The allure of a pure wood product is that no two grain patterns, textures or colors are identical. Wood is affected by soil contents, climate, growth patterns and many other factors. These wonderfully unique features will ensure a one of a kind look for your remodel. Differences in grain, coloring or mineral streaking, as it occurred in nature, will not be considered a defect or reason for a replacement.

- Butcher block countertops available in many species, as well as standard, desktop and island sizes
- Adds functional flow and warmth to your home
- Butcher block comes unfinished. Further sanding and finishing will be required.
- Seal butcher block within 24 hours of removing plastic to prevent warping and cracking
- Stain can be used for style purposes, but is not necessary and only needs to be used on the area that is visible
- May be used as countertop, desktop, island, table, workbench or any creative idea you have.
- Each block has an A (upper) and B (bottom) side. A side will be more pristine while B side will be more rustic and imperfect.

Very disappointed
Received without shipping damage, yet has several cracks the maker filled most of them with epoxy, including on the top surface. Another crack in the top was not filled and is quite deep. The bottom is worse. The HD site says nothing about needing to finish it in 2-3 days, I later saw in Jake's responses to several people who suffered major cracking within a short time because. I won't buy anything else from Hardwood Reflections.

Nothing but cracks, holes and gashes.
I would not recommend this product. Though it seems to be a solid heavy piece of birch. The "backside" has tons of issues as you can see in photos. I used putty to fill all the gaps and cracks before I used a stain and sealent, But I am still worried that this is going to fall apart at some point. I wish I did not waste $200 on this. But it was too heavy to return to ups.. So I am stuck with it unfortunately.

Nice perfect countertop for washer/drier
The product I received was well made and well finished with clear coat. It came in well protected packaging. The extra cost of the finish was well worth it. (Thanks to my wife's suggestion!) This countertop was a perfect fit for our laundry room. *Don't throw away the packaging material yet!!* I used the high density form packaging material just taped on top of the washer/drier as shown in the pic. Both my wife and I are very happy with this purchase.

Cracked after two months use as a desk
The pre-finished desktop cracked after two months use as a desk. I was hoping for something longer lasting than a particle board desk.
The UV finish did work nice for a desktop and I've two other butcher blocks from this mfgr that have held up nicely.

Put this over my washer/dryer and lucky enough that it fix the space exactly. It's gorgeous, thick, heavy and gave new life to my old beat-up washer/dryer. Note that you MUST finish the piece with a day or so of taking off the plastic. I wasn't prepared for that, so had to run out quickly to get stain and do it on a work night instead of waiting until Saturday when I had more time.
