Unfinished Thermally Modified Ash 10 ft. L x 25 in. D x 1.5 in. T Butcher Block Countertop

Purchased this butcher block to top an UpLift adjustable height desk stand. To stain and finish the piece, I purchased two products from Home Depot's line of Hardwood Reflections Butcher Block stains and finishes: Dark Walnut Gel Stain and Satin Topcoat. The butcher block arrived in great condition. Beautiful, heavy, well-crafted piece. A table top of similar quality from UpLift would have been 3x to 4x as expensive. I would highly recommend purchasing HD's gel stains--mentioned above--if you plan on finishing the block. The stains come in a variety of finishes. You can see the progression of raw to stain to finish in the attached photos. The block took the stain and the finish perfectly. Surprisingly, I only ended up using one coat of stain. For the satin topcoat, I rubbed on 4 coats, sanding with very fine sand paper in between coats (no sanding after final coat). The final picture I've attached shows my actual workplace setup, tough to see with the sunlight but that's after a couple months of heavy use. Looks the same as the day I finished it. As far as desk size, I use it with a dual monitor setup with keyboard and mouse. It's enough room for me. Could not be happier with how the quality and look of the piece. I've seen others use this butcher block in the kitchen. Don't overlook it for the office as well...worked out great for me.

Bought 3 of these for our kitchen, one side is lovely ( very minimal flaws) the other side has deep scratches and a lot of glue showing. Overall we are happy with them but disappointed that no care was given to the other side, paying over 900 a piece I expected better overall.

Matches description perfectly, great wood. Good quality. Very minimal sanding after using mineral oil to protect the wood. Basically just lightly sanded by hand with 400 grit between 3 coats, and then finished it with a light sanding at 800 grit. Smooth as glass and the color using just mineral oil is fantastic.

The wood is fantastic. It looks great, was packaged well and matches the description exactly. I have not stained it, but simply applied multiple coats of mineral oil, which revealed a very deep and rich color in the wood. I would highly recommend keeping this block natural and not using any type of stain or color added to it.

Product was very well packaged and nearly flawless (Straight edges, square corners and well sanded). Finished with oil and it is absolutely stunning! I was very impressed and would highly recommend this product (and already have)!
