Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well designed hammer with some of the same features... Very well designed hammer with some of the same features as Stiletto hammers but for a much cheaper price. It is light, about the right length, and has a very handy 180 degree side nail puller

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I must admit I’ve broke/cracked/damaged a few wooded handles over the years, well no more. This was the main reason for getting this hammer. I like the balance and the curve in the handle, it’s very comfortable while using it. I can see where the magnetic nail starter could be a plus but so far, I haven’t had a need for it yet. It’s a little pricier then I’m use to but I would defiantly recommend this hammer.

It's efficiently designed and may just be the next engineering marvel. The nail pulling feature certainly helps to put more torque on your pull, and having a hollow center allows you to see through to the other side when doing so. The claw comes down to a very fine point and will work great for pulling small nails, though neither the claw nor the side pull are sharp and thus one should not expect to dig in and extract deep nails when needed. The rubber grips and polymer bottom decrease user fatigue and felt recoil. The soft rubber decreases the chances of having your hammer slip out of your hand in wet conditions. The waffles are very sharp. This keeps the head from slipping and helps to sink the nail deeper into the wood. It'll be good if these last long, as many times they don't. Of course, just like with any high-quality hammer, there is a magnet to help set the nail and an indentation to help guide it. It's a nice feature to have for those out-of-reach nails; not having to risk your balance trying to set them straight. HART advertises its side nail strike for tight spaces, yet I don't see how it is of any more benefit than the actual face. If you put it sideways there is less room for your hand and is likely to bust some knuckles is the process. Nonetheless, the head and claw seem to be of equal weight, and here is a 1/2" hole through the vertical aspect of the head. therefore allowing you to do this if you so desire. However, the left and right sides do not seem to be equally distributed, obviously having more weight to the left of the hammer due to the side-pull. I wonder how well the I-beam-style frame will hold up, and also how well the polymer handle is attached to the bottom. I question the integrity and durability of the whole head, as lots of metal is displaced by all the custom molding. I almost expect the head to crack off of the neck within due time. But overall, I find this to be an good hammer with lots of features.

The main purpose is for construction framing, but I have used it for breaking up pallets and a few other miscellaneous projects. The length of the hammer is perfect for control and also for creating efficient strikes. The head of the hammer has a couple nice features for pulling out missed nails. The handle is also very comfortable for working long projects. Overall, no issues and a wonderful tool.

My husband always teases me about my "hammering" technique because I have the hardest time getting the nail started especially when it is over my head. Well - no more! I love this hammer with its magnetic nail starter - you just drop the nail in and swing! Not only do I no longer have problems starting the nail nail but no more hurt fingers from missing the nail. Now the only thing I have to worry about is the accuracy of my swing. We are in the middle of a major renovation on our vacation home and though I got this hammer for the nail starter, I just used it to rip out a Trex deck that was side nailed. The side nail pull on this hammer worked great. My brother was using a traditional hammer and I was able to remove the nails easier and quicker than him. My husband borrowed the hammer to finish some trim on the porch and he loves the balance and weight. The hammer is extremely well designed and I highly recommend it.

This hammer has a milled face, so the striking face is not smooth, and after using it, I find that I do not prefer this feature. The texture of the face imprints the things it strikes, and I prefer a smooth face cleanly striking the item that I am hammering. However, it has some features that may make it just right for someone hammering in a tight space, or in need of something lightweight. I prefer a 22 oz. smooth face framing hammer, which has enough heft to make my work go faster.

The specs indicate: • Lightweight: it is about as light as a framing hammer can be which can make a significant difference over the course of a day’s framing • It has an angled face for a more efficient drive: I can’t say that I noticed a big difference in the efficiency of the drive, but I do like the waffled texture on the head because it gives me a bit more “traction” when driving nails. • 180 side nail pull for leverage to remove 16d nails in 1 motion: Not in one motion, but it is handy to have two options for removing nails and I do like the shorter length on the claw; less likely to break off after years of use. • I-beam hammer design for increased durability: Most folks who use hammers have had the head detach (sometimes while in use), so I’m liking this trend toward an all-in-one hammer design. • Magnetic nail set compatible with duplex and standard framing nails: not sure about whether I like this or not, will have to use it a bit more. • Precision forged steel handle with anti-vibration design: The hammer is well made in both design and quality. I like the curve and balance of the handle, especially when taking those swings to drive in the nail. • HART products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty: It’s a pretty vague warranty (here’s the “What is Covered” section). “WHAT IS COVERED A limited lifetime warranty is offered to the original purchaser of HART tools for the duration of the product’s usable life against defects in material, manufacturing, and workmanship. This limited warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original product obtained at the time of purchase. Warranties for other HART products may vary.”
