(What's this)
I'm loving this little sledge. It has a very comfortable and seems to be very strong handle. The unique strike end of the hammer was a little strange to use at first and I wasn't sure how well it would actually work but I found that it broke apart some concrete containers (that I was trying to get rid of) with very little effort. I thought it was going to be an afternoon project, I had it done in about 45 minutes. I was a happy camper.

(What's this)
Nicely designed and executed sledge. So far, I’ve only used it to drive stakes and rebar into the ground. Neither application was challenging for the smooth hammer face. The padded fiberglass handle grips well and feels secure in a bare or gloved hand. Having used a hardwood handled sledge for all of my life, the shock absorption of the fiberglass handle was a welcome surprise. I haven’t had to do and demolition with this hammer yet. The patented Powerstrike face looks like a great way to concentrate the sledge’s force. Also, I haven’t tried the side strikes, but I’ve tried to do side strikes with my old sledge. The Hart side strike face is a better solution for this. Overall feel of quality design and construction. Hart provides a limited lifetime warranty.

(What's this)
I'm very impressed with the Hart 4 pound short handle sledge and have needed a tool like this for years. it has a very strong fiberglass handle that fits your hand well and a loop for hanging it up. It's made of strong forged steel and has both a broad flat surface for driving and a powerstrike face to bust up concrete. The flat surface on the sides is nice too. The homeowner or professional will love having this sledge on hand.

(What's this)
A nicely sized sledge, small enough to swing with one hand when starting fence stakes or ground rods, but large enough to grip with two hands when extra "moxie" is needed to drive the stake or rod in, although someone with large hands may find the handle a little too "skinny". For my medium sized mitts it was just right. Manufactured in Vietnam, the sledge appears to be of good quality. One of the striking faces on the ends is the "powerstrike" face, with a raised pattern (more on that), while a striking face is also provided on each SIDE of the head, providing an easier to land target area when starting the driven object. The glass fiber handle and cushioned grip dampen the impact transmitted to ones hands, when in use. The handle covering is augmented just below the head to provide a cushion against "misses" to protect the handle from damage. The non-striking portions of the head bear a gray finish (powder coat?) and it appeared to have a clear coat on the striking faces, which was quickly dispatched when put to use! The "Powerstrike" face of the hammer head incorporated a raised, cross-shaped protuberance, ostensibly to concentrate the force of the blow when breaking up concrete. While I did not have any concrete available to break-up, I did try out the hammer on large flat rocks...and, quite honestly, couldn't detect any difference in the effectiveness in shattering the objects. Both faces worked quite well. A loop is provided at the end of the handle for attachment of a lanyard or for hanging it up, if that is your preference. All in all, a nice addition, for when a drilling hammer is too small, but a full sized sledge is too large.

This 4 lb hammer was just right for pounding in a metal fence post (I used a block of wood on top). It's useful having two sides, wide & flat and narrow & rounded. Quality materials and workmanship.
