Questions & Answers

What size is the light lense and where can you purchase them

Asked by: arch
Hi arch, it looks like that this Twin Head 1,000-Watt Halogen Telescoping Work Light is a store exclusive item and only able to be bought in a Home Depot store. Unfortunately we do not sell it or any of it's parts with online stock for purchase and it does not appear to be present on Homedepot.com at this point. If you still see the item in your area and are unable to see the store inventory it is most likely either not a stocked item in your area or no longer available for purchase from Homedepot.com and will soon be taken off. I would advise you visit or contact your local Home Depot store for pricing and availability. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

what is the total lumen output of this work light

what is the total lumen output of this work light so I can compare to similar LED type work lights
Asked by: Travis
Not sure about the lumen output for the 500w bulbs that come with this unit, but I replaced the 500w bulbs with 300w bulbs after reading the reviews on how the original bulbs get too hot and damage the contact points. The 300w bulbs I got are 4600 lumens each.

Customer Reviews

1,000-Watt Twin Head Halogen Telescoping Work Light is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light for the money, BUT! Here's a tip. I was given one of these but it would not work. The previous owner used it all day for days at a time to do body work. I opened up the enclosure and the clips that hold the light bulbs were fried. I found some replacements on the internet and have been using this light a lot. The 500W bulbs make way too much heat for these small enclosures. They will work for quite a while, but eventually the bulb contacts will fry. BUT just change the bulbs for 300W versions and I think they will last a long long time. The 300W bulbs are what most yard lights use in this size fixture. They are the same length. Don't touch the new bulbs with your hands when installing them, the oil from your skin will shorten bulb life. I'm going on a couple of years use now and no problems. Another tip, don't splash even a drop of water on the hot glass or it will crack. No, it wasn't me that did it! The best feature is the light base is stable, and it has lots of easy adjustments to point the lamps where you need them. The on off push buttons are a bit funky but they do work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good for the Price withing limits I bought this light after extensive reading of reviews both here and elsewhere to light up projects in my garage. A very good light for the price given the following considerations: 1) lamp contacts, and switches are under designed for the amperage load of 500W Halogen bulbs 2) lamp heads and contacts are not designed for the heat generated by 500W Halogen bulbs. 3) plan on spending another $16 to replace the bulbs with lower wattage. The 500W bulbs included will fry the switches and lamp contacts in very little time. The Bulb type is R7s J118 (118mm); Home Depot calls these "Halogen T3" lamps, and are stock in most stores by Phillips in 150W and 300W. I used one of each, and this has worked great and given plenty of light. After using it for a while, 300W should work just fine in both lamps. Otherwise, the stand is very sturdy. The mounts for the lamp heads could be better; the are a little loose, but has worked fine for my purposes. If you REALLY need a twin head work light of 1000W total or higher with better quality, plan on spending minimum of $250.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Actually bought these for a music video shoot. Little did... Actually bought these for a music video shoot. Little did I know you could harness the power of the sun and shove it into a light fixture. My eyes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value 1000 watts of light for $30. I feel the purchase was a good value. Yes the top of the stand is a little wobbly but not horrific, its a byproduct of the less than precision quick disconect feature. Yes they do get hot, but don't they all? These are working well for flooding my work area with light. Assembly was very easy. I like how they included a spare bulb and an attached holder for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright lights for little $$ These lights are great... a lot of light...very versatile and less than $30...a deal. Like all halogens they do get hot so working in a small room can heat up but that is the only downside.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good.. Very bright lights. Due to the quick release feature/design there is a good bit of wobbliness(Which I was able to minimize with little effort.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy I bought this item for home use and find it unsatisfactory. First, the bulbs burn out within a few weeks. When I went to replace one bulb, I found that the connections had melted so the bulb could not be replaced. I just replaced the other bulb, and it stopped working in a few hours. The warranty is a joke because you have to pay to ship the item, and also send a check for $7.50 to have it shipped back, almost costing as much as the item.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good lamp, the half of which is working... Like other reviewers stated, the tri-legged lamp stand is a little wobbly but stable nonetheless. Nice bright light (at least for a 12' x 20' room) which can actually heat a room up slowly if you're working all day - makes one wonder about how much energy is being wasted... unless they market this as also a heat lamp! The lights seem to be well protected (and also have gaskets for potential rain drizzle use - but I haven't tested this out) so no fears about breaking them. My gripe is that one of the two bulb fixtures died on or before arrival, even after replacing the bulb twice. Judging from the reviews, sounds like Workforce should redesign this lamp and folks should stay away unless they like playing the lottery.
