Questions & Answers

What size is the light lense and where can you purchase them

Asked by: arch
Hi arch, it looks like that this Twin Head 1,000-Watt Halogen Telescoping Work Light is a store exclusive item and only able to be bought in a Home Depot store. Unfortunately we do not sell it or any of it's parts with online stock for purchase and it does not appear to be present on Homedepot.com at this point. If you still see the item in your area and are unable to see the store inventory it is most likely either not a stocked item in your area or no longer available for purchase from Homedepot.com and will soon be taken off. I would advise you visit or contact your local Home Depot store for pricing and availability. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

what is the total lumen output of this work light

what is the total lumen output of this work light so I can compare to similar LED type work lights
Asked by: Travis
Not sure about the lumen output for the 500w bulbs that come with this unit, but I replaced the 500w bulbs with 300w bulbs after reading the reviews on how the original bulbs get too hot and damage the contact points. The 300w bulbs I got are 4600 lumens each.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheaply made Like others here, I had a bulb burn out in a few days and the replacement did not fix it, then the tri-pod broke. I have purchased other similar lights at my local Ace hardware for a comparable price and they lasted for several years before dying. Would not buy this again. As for the heat, they do help warm up a local area and common sense (and the label on the fixture) should prevent any issues. I like the amount of light this style of light puts out, although I often use it to assist painting small parts in my cold shop during the chillier months.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weak stand Bright lights but the tripod broke the first time I moved it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for The construction of the light set does not seem to be of the highest quality. Parts feel like cheap plastic. They were bright, but don't seem like they will last very long. Wondering if they will make it through my deck project. My guess is they would last longer with less manipulation but setting them up and taking them down everyday seems to put undue wear on them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no good Just purchased this product its now known as HDX brand. Both glass screened shattered withing minutes of the lights warming up. Will be returning.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Get what you pay for Not a very sturdy tripod. Mine broke within a few days. One light burnt out a few days later. ( spare bulb was no good) I trashed the tripod and use the little stand that also came with it. On a good note it puts out plenty of light and heat so be careful around it or where its placed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent setup for the price I need a set of work lights like this but I don't need it enough to justify spending a lot of money. This seemed to be the best one at home depot and after reviewing all the reviews, I decided to purchase the 300w bulbs and not used the 500w bulbs that come with it. Apparently the 500w bulbs will get too hot and burn out the contacts that the bulbs connect to (another high quality, made in China product). I used Philips T3 Halogen worklight bulbs that came in a 2-pack for $7.86 DO NOT TOUCH HALOGEN BULBs WITH YOUR BARE HAND. The HD website shows the unit is bright green in color and calls it Workforce Twin Halogen Work Lights. The unit is actually Home Depot orange and the box says the brand is HDX with no mention of Workforce. This was confusing at first but I verified the SKU number was the same at the store as what was listed online. I was able to put it together without the instructions, just look at the picture on the box. but I'm an aircraft mechanic and this isn't rocket science. The base is stable enough and provides more than enough light with the 300w bulbs. Each of the 2 lamps has its own on/off switch. The cord is kind of short considering the height of the lights. The cord is 5 feet long and the unit is 6 feet tall, so it can't go far from the wall without an extension cord. Still, I think its definitely worth the money for around-the-house projects. I don't recommend it be used for constantly being folded up, thrown in a work truck, and taken to multiple construction sites. Its not built for that.
