Questions & Answers

Which is correct? The description indicates lamp is rated for 300 watts. The box and stickers on reflector reads only rated for 150 watts

I specifically purchased this for use with 250 watt infrared heat bulb. So is the lamp really 300 watts and packaged in the wrong box or is the web page description incorrect?

why does it state it is a 300- watt light when it states on the inside that 150 watt is the max to use

Asked by: Curious
What makes this particularly confusing is that there is only an SKU number (596 600) on the box and no model number. And an Internet search for the manufacturer of HDX products just brings you back to Home Depot. Some have said that the Model # HD-300's are the 150 watt units while the HD-303's are really 300 watts rated (in spite of the box markings and warning labels inside the reflector). UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - it seems as though these work/brooder lights are made by BAYCO and the BAYCO description is the same as the Home Depot description. That is, BAYCO describes model # HD-303PDQ as a 300 watt unit. Now, the two questions are - 1) IS SKU 596600 the same as model # HD-303PDQ and 2) WHY DO THE BOX DESCRIPTION AND REFLECTOR WARNING LABELS SAY 150 WATTS? I'm going to use this unit anyway with a 250 watt ThermRed heat bulb since I will only have the unit on for a few minutes at a time. I'll keep checking the cord temperature to make sure that the reflector isn't overheating. It shouldn't since this looks like a very well built unit with a heavy duty ceramic socket.

does it not have an on/off switch?

Asked by: kamp
It does not have an on and off switch. It turns on when you plug it in.
