Unfortunately, NYC specifies the use of their Otto brand trash can ONLY. I have a Toter brand trash can that meets all the DSNY criteria, save for the "locking lid", which doesn't even work on the NYC can - it's a flimsy rubber strap and is too long.
What is the weight limit of the contents? This is kind of a basic question that really should be included and answered in the specifications.
