A:  It should work. The foam is flexible but firm enough to push the grout into the space between tiles.

A:  Yes but be careful when trying to clean up, the foam pad might not be compatible with the solvents.

              Made work do smooth
I used this on ceramic wall tile in a small kitchen area. (Granddaughters first apartment) the rubber facing made sweet quick work of spreading and clearing extra grout. I also used the sand less grout because of the gloss tile. I’ve used other floats, this one ranks up there at the top for ease of use and moving product without a lot of drag.

                Better option for the price
This float has thin, flexible foam, which seems far inferior to the QEP float (model 10060). This may work for one tile job, but spend the extra $1 and get the QEP instead which is sturdier and will last longer.

                  did the job
It was cheap and did the job. the float is made of a squishable dense foam. It keeps its shape good. good size for backsplash. the edge is slightly worn after one job, which is as expected for the price. I wont use again anyway. but if you have several jobs to do, you might want the more expensive float.

This rubber is firm enough but also flexible when pushing grout into gaps. I liked using it and I think it made my tiles come out great. It cleaned up easily in a bucket of water after scraping it with a plastic putty knife.
