Questions & Answers

how do i know what wires are black, white and ground

Asked by: Robert
Called the Richfield HD and got the answer, the middle is connected to the white, the others are interchangeable to put on the red and black connectors.

CAN I USE THIS CORD ON A STOVE

NEED TO KNOW IF THAT WILL WORK
Asked by: bubba
No. A range oven will usually need a beefier cord - I just used a 6/3 cord [6guage /3 wire] to hook up a new induction range. The smaller 10guage is fine for dryers.

6 ft. 10/3 3-Wire Dryer Cord is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recently purchased a dryer from Sears and the cord... I recently purchased a dryer from Sears and the cord doesn't come with it for the obvious reason that you can have one of two different outlets in your home. Sears wanted $29.99 for a cord and said they will only installed with an authorized cord. I thought that was a little high and started looking at Home Depot and came across cord. It matched the specs on the Sears cord exactly and so I gave it a shot. When they came out to install the dryer, the tech looked at cord and then said no problem and installed it. I felt pretty good about saving that $13.00 and got what I consider a quality cord for almost half the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pretty straight forward repair this was pretty much a piece of cake to change, i had a newer 4 pin dryer and needed to change the cord over to a 3 wire to fit the receptacle.. took about 15 minutes and i've had no problems since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a dryer cord... What else is there to say? Hmm 28 characters left. It's a dryer cord. OK, 6 more characters. It bolted on easily? Aha, minimum reached.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked Just Fine Worked just fine with our dryer. Based on the amount of laundry we go thru, if the cord was going to fale it would have failed on us! 3-Prong, 3-wire. Already had ring terminals attached to the wire for easy installation. These terminals may have to be removed based on how your dryer accepts the wire hook up.

A mechanically-inclined friend changed this cord for me and apparently did a great job; it works just fine. We had to change the cord because the outlet was a three-pronger. We read extensively about it first, and based on the information, thought it would be - while not ideal - the least expensive solution, and at least safe. No complaints, good product, Had this done about a month ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to install. I thought I would have to hire an electrician to install the 3-Wire Dryer Cord. The salesperson said that you could just unscrew the 4-Wire Dryer Cord and screw in the new 3-Wire Cord. He was correct - it took a screwdriver to complete this job and it worked without hiring an electrician.
