They're C batteries and they power electronics! Amazing! There isn't much that needs to be said about these batteries. They arrived in a fairly plain thin cardboard box appropriately sized to keep the batteries from shifting. The batteries appear to be of standard construction that you would find from the coppertop brand. It's probably obvious that I didn't test every single battery since that would involve removing the plastic seal on the pairs of two that are wrapped to keep out contaminants and moisture. The batteries functioned properly in a clock I have that uses C cells and they are rated to be good through 2027.

A quality battery similar to a name-brand, without the name-brand price. This 12-pack is larger than the usual 8-pack so you have more batteries available for your devices. "C" batteries are usually for mid-drain devices, so having extras on-hand is important. Most devices will use 4 "C" batteries so the 12-pack is just right. The batteries come boxed, and wrapped in pairs. That makes them easy to access. If you want to save money buying generics, this is the way to go. With a 10-year guarantee, and each battery stamped with the expire date (10 years out), you will be good to go. Just like the high-end brands.

I'm giving a qualified recommendation to these Home Depot store brand batteries. They are so new at the time of this review that they don't show on the HD web site. I received them in return for my honest review and don't know what the price will be so it is hard to give a value opinion. I am assuming they will be less than the major name brands but that's a guess. The construction seems adequate from the outside in order to prevent leaks. There is no battery life indicator on the side like on at least major brand but that's not a big issue for me--just worth mentioning. I am not sure what the shelf life of these batteries will be but many competitors claim 10 years although not many people would have them on the shelf unused for anywhere near that long. So far they are doing just fine to power some LED faux candles that my wife burns for hours each evening. Time will tell the ultimate life of these. They have been in service for just over two weeks now.

I ordered this 12 pack of Size C batteries and they were shipped very fast. Had them is just a few days. However, when I opened the package I noticed that they were a different brand of batteries then shown, The ones shown were Ultra Digital by Pairdeer and the ones I received were from HDX. What is the difference? I have no idea. But they do work good and put out a bright light from my flashlight. I will have to come back at a later time to post how long they last. The shelf life on these batteries is good through 2027.

Nicely packaged, in pairs, in a cardboard box (no blister-packs), these will be easy to store on a shelf until needed and easily removed at that time without the annoyance of cutting open a blister-packed card, only to have all the cells fall on the floor. Each pair of cells is shrink-wrapped together, completely covering the positive and negative terminals, precluding unintended shorting. The shrink wrap is easily removed when needed. The manufacturer claims a 10 year minimum lifetime, and the "use by" date on the cells support this time frame. In order to evaluate the performance, three of the HDX cells were installed in an LED flashight, and operated on high power for four (4) hours. Open circuit voltage was measured before and after the four hour test. The cells were allowed to "recover" for 24 hours. Open circuit voltage was measured and the cells were used to power the flashlight for two minutes at which time the open circuit voltage was again measured. In addition, the temperature of the metallic flashlight case was checked with an IR thermometer. The same test protocol was used for three "reference" cells of a different manufacturer which, although unused, were about a year old.The HDX cells all had a uniform, and slightly higher open circuit voltage than the reference cells (1.625V). After four hours of operation, two of the HDX cells were approximately at the same level as the reference cells. One of the HDX cells, however, dropped to 0.93 V, while the other two were at 1.16 and 1.17 V respectively (vs. 1.11, 1.17 and 1.21 for the reference cells). After 24 hours, the HDX cells had recovered to 1.351/1.351/1.352 V (vs 1.337/1.342/1.341 V for the reference cells). After a short two minutes of operation, the HDX cells (open circuit voltage) had dropped to 1.252/1.266/1.268 V (vs 1.265/1.272/1.281 V for the reference cells). During the four hour test, the maximum temperature (flashlight housing) was 98 degrees F for the reference and 100 degrees F for the HDX. IN CONCLUSION: The HDX cells performance closely matched the reference cells, exhibiting slightly less capacity and variation in the case of the one cell which may be a QC related anomaly. For use in low load applications, for example LED flashlights, the performance difference would probably not be an issue. If used in an older incandescent style high power flashlight they may not last as long.

Having never seen this brand of batteries before and being unsure of their working life, I slotted 6 of them into my sons ten year old battery operated music karaoke center. Since he last used this, the well-known batteries he used to use, lasted only a week or less. So before I tried these in one of my trail cameras, I wanted to test them in his old machine to see how they stood up to a constant use. One of the annoying aspects of his Music center was that by leaving it switched on, even when not being used; it drained the batteries so much that after a few days, they were dead. So after slotting 8 of them in, I switched it on and deliberately left the device running. Checking it daily it was still switched on after48 hours. Taking them out I checked the remaining voltage and was pleasantly surprised to see that they were still showing 1.4V (My C batteries in my trail camera are dead when it reaches approx’ 1 10V so I am hopeful that these will last throughout the coming winter. As I have only had this set for 2 weeks, I am unable to vouch for their long life, but all I can say is that have been installed in my motion detection trail cameras now for the last 12 days with the temperatures reaching below freezing and having checked them again this early morning with frost on the ground, all my cameras are still operational.

Those HDX alkaline C size batteries are available in 12 pack so if you need more than just a couple or handful of batteries you can pick up a dozen batteries and save. They were delivered to my home in a carton inside a shipping box. Once you open the package you will find that the batteries are packaged in pairs so you can keep the extra batteries properly stored. The batteries are made in China but that's the standard nowadays. I used four of those in an outdoor battery powered security light and they work just fine. At the time of writing this review I cannot see the price so your decision to buy those or not may be based on how they are priced compared to competition.

I have been purchasing a lot of my household items lately from HDX because there products a priced great, and they hold up. This is why I'm so excited that they got into the battery business, as these last just as long as the name brands, and they are half the price. Just to test these out, I placed them in a flashlight and left it on throughout the night just to see if they would last until morning....they did. Really happy with these batteries, and will only be buying these in the future.
