life saver
this works really good I had to cut down 4" pvc pipe to put a off set toilet flange on.other reviews say it spins loose mine didn't I think I was going in opposite direction with the teeth so maybe that helped.i was ready to spot weld the thing together if it did happened.

The toothed blade idea is more effective than a standard cut off wheel and I didn't have any problem with the blade coming loose. This might work okay for some applications, but as one other reviewer said, it doesn't have enough diameter to cut through in some situations. I needed to cut off a PVC flange which sat too high above the new floor. After going all the way around, cutting as deep as it could, it didn't breach the outer surface. (Also you won't get a very smooth cut.) I had to use an oscillating tool which gave me closer to a 90° angle cut than I thought it would. I will be returning this and looking for something with a larger diameter blade. It might be okay for many DIYers, but as a professional, I need tools with broader applications.

This thing sucks... bad. If and I mean IF you can get it to stay still and not jump all around, inside the pipe, then all it does is grind on the pipe to the point of basically burning through it. Once you manage to get through the PVC, it takes FOREVER to make a cut. OH, and don't even try to make a smooth cut, not with it jumping in and out of the cut and or melting the PVC b/c it wont cut it. I really wanted it to work, but sorry to say....NOPE.

The blade continually loosens up & falls off every 5 -10 seconds. The supplied lock washer did not work at all. As others have suggested, stuff a rag in the pipe below the cutter to prevent losing the blade, screw and washers. After replacing the lockwasher that was supplied with the cutter with a better one, I was able to improve the operation time by about 5 seconds before the blade would start slipping and stop cutting. If the screw that holds the blade were replaced by a hex bolt, it would be a more effective way to tighten the blade and keep it from slipping on the shaft. I didn't have any bolts with metric threads and I didn't want to take the time to go back to HD to find one. So, I just patiently cut and tightened until I was able to finally cut through the toilet flange. If I ever needed to use it again, I would first try to replace the screw with a bolt that hopefully would allow me to tighten the blade sufficiently.
